The Old Dog Presents: The Mundane as Art Round 13 ..........Wood Piles!

in #mundaneart7 years ago

Yes I know, I'm weird! I love cutting splitting and stacking wood. Mostly though, I LOVE wood piles. In fact I even wrote an article about it well over a year ago.

It's for this reason that I've decided to make the theme for round 13 of The Mundane as Art Challenge "Wood Piles"

Here Are Some Sample Photos that I took today, a month ago and last year! Can you say obsession?

Do you find these to be beautiful or is it just me? It also gives me a sense of security becasue there's enough firewood for those cold winter nights!

Oh yah, it's game on!! I'm working on my post!!

Good stuff!

When I read your post immediately I thought if this picture. I love it not only because the wood is piled up on a steep mountain but also because of my dog Perla and how she was posing there.

Very nice. Thanks for the happy photograph!

Curonian Spit, Lithuania. Lovely place with almost untouched nature. Sandy dunes and pine forest.
But in summer the problem is due sandy land it remains very dry with high possibility of the flame catching pines very quick and hardly stoppable then

Due this fact special services make yearly cutting of the pines and overall cleaning of the forests, as well as keeping clean special anti-flaming sandy lines (some 3-5 mtrs width)

So that was exactly the case, when making a photoshoot there last summer, we stumbled across cleaned area and the woods already cut and prepared in a pile for further transportation to the factory

Enjoy the scenery :)

Thanks so much. It's always lovely to get a submission from you!

Always a pleasure :) Was quite an issue this time to find, luckily got one which made prior to starting a photoshoot... and that was one of the best frames btw

OM-Embrio.jpg

This one is beautiful!

Oh, now, THIS is beautiful! Such a great capture - perfection <3

Now that's what I call thing outside of the box. Great work @psidema!

Thank you. It is a creative idea

Hahaha, it's funny! You are very creative and playful!

Esta foto está genial, la verdad no se habría ocurrido. Te felicito por la creatividad @psidema.

You choose very interesting and unusual themes, @kus-knee. Thank you! I want to present the stacked wood for a heavy and long winter in northern Romania, in a mountain village. It's the wood gathered to heat a church.

IMG_20171203_123007.jpg

wow beautiful dude

Thank you!

Hey @bluemoon, very nice indeed! Such a feeling of security with all of that wood stored up!

Yes, it is a community work, thank you!

Wow! That will give off a lot of warmth!

Yes and no. The church is a big one, not that in the image...this one:

IMG_20171203_095942.jpg

It is a beautiful church! And yes. I can see why they use a lot of wood!

Wow. That's a huge wood pile @bluemoon. I've never seen anything like that except at a merchants! 😊

The wood is near, the winter is hard and long, these are the reasons.

Great photographs @kusknee! I love this theme and I am in!

Oh my @ileana56 you've got me all excited with this photo!

Thank you, @kus-knee! I still remember the day I took this photo, because it was amazing sunset.🙂

love this pic

Thank you!

Such a beautiful sky!

This is a gorgeous sunset. I can't wait for our sky to start making these again.

We've had some wonderful sunsets in recent days. They will definitely be in your area too!

Oh I wish I could enter more than one! I was quite astonished the first time I saw these neatly cut and precisely stacked wood piles in Europe. This one is in the French Alps near Manigod.

image

I've cut and stacked a lot of firewood in my life, but my woodpiles were never works of art like this one.

That is a beauty in and of itself but when you add in the scenery. WOW!

The wood pile was right next to the road. I suspect it may have been the only flat spot on the property to stack it! I simply couldn't just focus on the wood pile and leave out the scenery.

Oo Melinda you live in such amazing place! :)

some are boring, some are awesome if you ask me. My favorite is the house that has a wall made of wood, one half dark, one bright...

I'd love to have an entry from you in Bali! That would be very exotic for our virtual gallery!

I Was thinking about it, but I don't think I know any place where they have wood piled...:-(

You can join us on the next round!

Those are great photographs @kusknee! I have a few in mind I could enter although the piles are of a less organised variety! 😁

No problem. I'm also a big fan of minimalistic photography! If its a pile of wood and it looks like art I'm in!

I need to make a note of it or I'll forget! 😂

Plague_1523686259952.jpeg

That's actually a beautiful photo but it's not a wood pile. Try and enter it on Tree Tuesday or on the Sun theme day!

Okay @kus-knee.
Thank you so much. I like what you're doing. Please, i'll like to know you more and have you as a friend.

I shall take them for this

warm regards to you and the bird!

Wow! I never paid attention to ‘wood piles’ , but they’re are beautiful, I have to admit. You always have goid ideas and make so much fun! Have a great day my friend😊

Hey @naturald, thanks for stopping by!

I’ve missed you😊

@kus-knee, this is a nice theme and this time I have a photo of a wood pile with the setting sun shining on it.

when I come home from university I meet him on the curb, do you like ?

Lovely!

can I add in my post

Yes, I DO find those to be lovely wood piles!
We don't cut or stack firewood here, because we are in the south where it is HOT and we only use the heater a few days a year. Hardly worth the effort of installing a woodburner and cutting wood.
BUT I grew up in Ohio, and we had a woodstove. One chore we did plenty of was stacking firewood. I would always groan when I had to do it, but there is definitely a sense of satisfaction at stacking all the pieces in there so they fit together well and look good when you're done.

Edited to add that I just remember that I DID take a picture of some logs we had stacked for a bonfire, and for fun, Ill enter it.
Not sure if it counts as a whole wood pile, but here ya go!
P1000361.jpg

Thanks for recounting your experience and I'm glad that you've entered a photo.

Hi @kus-knee,
now i'm in in this amazing theme. I shot it today on my hiking round
P4230754.JPG

Looks like you had a nice hike with a good find!

Thank you, and yes today was a really beautiful day, with a nice photo

Call as always very original)). Can I have a bunch of wooden boxes? We do not have firewood ...

I'm open to new thoughts and ideas. Wood piles is open to some level of interpretation.

These are wooden supports for tomatoes bushes and a branch from an old pear tree. I tried very hard to find firewood!

I love the 4th photo on the right - and would love to have that look for a table top. I suppose people who use wood for their fires or to heat their homes need to store it in interesting ways rather than a heap.

With some of them I wondered what would happen if they chose the wrong piece?? hehe....would the whole wall come tumbling down like a Jenga puzzle.(like the bottom left photo) 😂

I know what you mean! I hope to get a nice photo from u!

I will do my best. I'm heading out today and I'll be on the lookout.

Wood would bring some interesting shots depending on the texture of the wood, what may be growing on the wood and markings by Woody Wood pecker and other creatures. LOL Thanks @kus-knee

Yes Woody Wood Pecker would add a lot!

A wood inducing post!! Ooer... :0D

Hey buddy, a masculine specimen, he-man, master of the universe, gym frequenter like you must be able to swing an axe! When will we have an original boomer photo in one of our galleries!

Those are some impressive wood piles.

I enjoy all aspects of getting firewood: felling trees, sawing them to length, splitting them and stacking them. It might be because I only do these things when we go camping but it's good exercise and find it relaxing.

This past summer we went camping for three weeks and I got most of our firewood felling trees with an axe and cutting them with a bow saw. I didn't get the stacks that you have pictures of but I have before using chainsaw and splitting with an axe.

I'm sure that all,of the hard work left you satisfied!

This stack is my entry
bff DSC_0153.jpg

Our local beaver doesn't have a steemit account, but he did put together a stack of his own ;-)beaver stack.jpg

Very nice entry. Thanks!

Hey @kus-knee, remember I told you we don't have stuff like that in Bali? Well, guess what I stumbled across yesterday (no joke, seriously yesterday)...

IMG_20180424_103257.jpg

I knew that you'd find something. Now I have the exotic entry that I was hoping for!

hehe, juhuuuuu

Hi @kus-knee ! Glad I found you and your contests on here! Great fun!
For a slightly different angle on the contest I have a pile of my old skateboards for you! =)
Cheers dude!!

Cool! Original and fun!

Hi @kus-knee :) , here is my entry for the contest :
https://steemit.com/mundaneart/@vee2180/the-mundane-art-round-13-jenga-blocks-pile

I walked around the neighbourhood to go on a hunt for this challenge of wood piles , but I soon found out , people stack them in there back garden.

So I started thinking 🤔 and I think my idea is close , wood pile , check , outside view check 😁

I’ve been waiting for you! Nice!

Yes, I was busy looking for wood piles :) Thank you

I know setting up a game would be your last thing to do! :-) You really did not find any woodstacks lol

No because, all the houses have fences , I could not go in the peoples gardens to go and shoot there wood piles, and for this intention, I do use games :) lol( thinking literally outside the box )

This the local wood we have in my country is snapped it direct and right now is it fine and good to go? @kus-knee
1524403406046598862542.jpg

Very nice!

I heard from @erikah that @melinda010100 account is hacked! yesterday...

I like those stacks of wood! Great photo!

Ummm wood piles. Owk I think I have a few around here and can take a snap shot or two. Await my entry to this then .

I look forward to it!

This is my entry, it was taken in the Bükk mountains, about 6 weeks ago! It looks like a huge abstract statue, covered by thick snow.

(Full resolution is very spectacular! Right mouse-button and see on new sheet)

With show is really fascinating!👏

Hey thanks. You always have something interesting for my eyes!

what about this entry @kus-knee ??
image

That is awesome... very creative! Do you shave these off your own tree?

I did not meet him in the daily market

I love that, that's awesome! I'd love a cinnamon tree!!

Thank you my friend @jayclar30.
hopefully healthy always for you

I don't have one yet but it is on my list of "would like to get". I better not take too long though as they take a while to grow don't they?

Is that cinnamon?

yes @kus-knee wood I met in the daily market

I thought it was cinnamon too! 😂

yes friends, it is the cinnamon that is used as a cooking spice.
thanks for the @gillianpearce, hopefully like it

Hey @kus-knee, thanks for the fun theme! Here's my entry:

woodpiles.JPG

I LIKE it!

I’m happy you like it. :) I found them in a forest in Breda, the Netherlands. Beautiful autumn/fall colors!

Hi @kus-knee,

this is my Wood Pile.. i know it's unusual interpretation but that's funny.

matera cat.jpg

Lovely. Is that your cat?

100wickianish_beach (3).jpg

It's not exactly the pile of wood you were talking about, but it might meet your criteria. Wickianish Beach on Vancouver Island is definitely a place were you won't have trouble finding some fire wood.

Let's enjoy this contest everyone. Thanks to @kus-knee for setting this up again

Oooooooh very nice. Vancouver island....I love the place!

Yeah, it was amazing over there. Hope some day I can go back!

A pile little bit disordered...☺
Nice shot! It look a nice place too!

Thank you for creating the contest @kus-knee!

Interesting.

@kus-knee thanks for showing us the art of stacking things

Great idea for a contest, too bad only one entry allowed. I'm from a region where wood is the main source of heat during long cold winters. Anyway, this is my entry. I hope you'll like it.

Great dear friend, I loved your pictures
I wish you a prosperous week

Thanks for your support!

The things. You can do with split wood. Great designs for the avid would chucker. 🐓🐓

For sure!

I am not good at photography though is this photo eligible

Oh! New theme! But still I can't enter. Oh my...

Why? R u living in the city? Are there are wood fired pizza ovens where you live?

Yeah i am in the city and no wood fired ovens anywhere. Haha. Should have taken a pic of the campfire some weekend ago if I had known. :D But it's okay. Will join when I can.

Super. I'll look forward to it and artists are much needed and very welcome!

Awww. Thank you. :) I think I'm turning into a scientist though. Hihi.

wow, I had not thought about the way you think about it and the deep work that goes into it @kus-knee

Yes, those piles are works of art in my eyes!

an unexpected topic, but I found :))
..photographed during a trip from the car
IMG_0526 1.jpg

The scenery is enchanting!

Thank you @kus-knee, maybe I'm not quite sure what the assignment is. :((

It's a good entry!

Man!!! Those are stunningly beautiful especially the one with the glass house. So much love it. How about considering stones and rocks in the next mudaneart.

Thanks for your ideas and for visiting my page!

They are some fabulous wood piles!!! It's hot where I live... we don't really do wood piles, so I'll have to have a think on this one ; )

If you don't have something please do catch us on another round!

I'll see what I can do... if I can get creative with it somehow. ; )
