The inventive concept of the Mercedes-Simplex also had a considerable influence on American automobile production.

This went so far, even smaller companies, among them American La France, practically copied this revolutionary car, introducing their own "Simplex" models to the market. Only the technical outfit of the chassis turned out somewhat clumsier and stronger. About 60% of the vehicles were sold as fire brigade cars and about 40% as racing- and sport cars.

During WWI many Indian-Motorbikes had come to Europe together with the American troops.

This promoted the motorcycles from Springfield and helped them gain a firm position on the European motorbike-market. Their excellent reputation was highly deserved and they belonged to the most coveted bikes successful models was the “Scout” first presented in 1919, which brought the firm big sales figures for many years.

Wow the seats on the Indian Motorcycle look so different than the seats now. Looks like it is just a thick piece of leather.
