Elements of the museum decor

History of the largest museum in the United States
The history of the Philadelphia Museum of Art dates from 1876. It was then that the world's exhibition was held in its building to honor the centenary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. The exhibition demonstration takes place at Memorial Hall in boss-ar style.

A new round of museum development began in 1919, when the city authorities of the Fairmont quarter decided to build a modern museum building, but already in the style of neoclassicism. The main elements of museum decoration are the columns and statues of the Greek god. In 1938, the building was officially known as the Philadelphia Art Museum.

He is on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and right in front of the museum is an area called the Eakins Oval with a circular motion. From the outside looks very impressive!

In the big square of Eakins Oval, concerts, parades, and other city events are frequent, where traffic is closed.

Philadelphia Museum of Art Collections
This museum is one of the largest in the United States, because the collection collects about 240,000 exhibits from South and South America, Asia and Europe. At the Philadelphia Museum there are even works of art dating from the 3rd millennium BC.

The museum exhibits statues, Roman and Egyptian artifacts, the second largest arms and weapons collection in the United States. In addition, guests present a collection of Korean, Japanese and Chinese ceramics, Turkish and Persian rugs and, of course, works of art - paintings from the early Renaissance, impressionism, post-impressionism and modern trends.

In addition to a permanent exhibit, the museum offers a special temporary exhibition to visitors. Around 15-20 collections attract hundreds of thousands of people, as there are many admirers of great painters like Salvador Dali and Paul Cezanne, who, in fact, are devoted to such exhibitions.

Great attention was also drawn to the exhibition located in the Eakins Oval area - a memorial to George Washington's first US president and bronze statue of the famous American figure, Rocky Balboa
