Now that it's almost autumn, I went for a little mushroom scout with my pocket mushroom guide, and well well, I did find some.

This was rather easy to identify using the book. At least every criteria checks out.
Top tier mushroom with a 3 star (***) rating – nice. The K stands for "recommended by grocery safety agency" or whatever elintarviketurvallisuusvirasto stands for.
Isohapero, in Finnish, which is "edible mushroom" in English. How lame of a name can you give for a mushroom? Maybe just call it with it's latin name Russula paludosa.

This was a bit tricky to identify first, but I immediately knew it's a bolete looking at the underside with pipes. It looks like bitter bolete, but a taste sample confirmed that it's something else (the taste was mild). Then I accidentally identified it as orange birch bolete, because there was a birch nearby it, but then I realized that the description is off (it's not really orange). Finally I realized it's actually just a birch bolete. Well makes since, in English, but not in Finnish.
You see, in Finnish birch bolete (the one in the picture) is actually "cow's bolete" (lehmäntatti) literally translated, and orange birch bolete is called koivunpunikkitatti, in which koivun
means birch's and punikki
is actually a derivative from the word punainen=red, and it is historically a degrading calling name for the Finnish Red Guards in the (Finland's) civil war in 1918.
So, now I'm just wondering who the hell named this mushroom birch's Finnish Red Guardsman bolete
. Seriously, who comes up with something like this?
Ok, moving on...

This one I couldn't find an equivalent for in the book, but it looks like a webcap. Obviously I leaved it in the woods, because I couldn't identify it and second, there are some poisonous – even lethal – webcap species. Most famous being the deadly webcap. Name suits well to describe its effects...
Sliced in half.
Another one!

I am not too sure what this is, because I couldn't find a fit from my book, but it seems like of a Russula genus.
In any case, it was inedible because worms had already taken over.
Worms cause some shivers in me, probably because of the association with death, rotten bodies and stuff. Hrhrhrhr....
Found this one too...
but it looked so wrecked that I didn't bother identifying it.
Made those two mushrooms (the edible mushroom and birch bolete) into a small stew with zucchini, garlic, milk, cream, salt and pepper. Yum, yum, it was pretty good actually.

Quite interesting pics @celestal. I hope Iam not being too direct but this is steem right...consequently I can't help to notice how some of the pics remind me of the male penis
Lol, you dirty bastard! I didn't even think of that before you mentioned, I was just excited about my mushrooms.
PS. Be as direct as you want, I am quite in favor of it.
