Blockchain Changing The Music Industry

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Where words fail, music speaks. I am very passionate about music and have been for as long as I can remember. I have been fortunate enough to turn that passion into a career by owning one of the largest indoor music venues in South Florida. That being said, I am equally passionate about crypto so I take a special interest in blockchain technology that is specifically geared toward music and the music industry. A prime example of this is right here on the steemit platform through Dsound (https://dsound.audio). Dsound is an application developed by @prc which allows you to upload, download and listen to music. But the best part you ask? Artists are actually able to monetize their music through steemit rewards, Incentivizing even better music and music contributions without having to worry about where to get their next rent check from.

Another recently introduced platform is Viberate. Viberate created a platform of live music, where users can search for the profiles of their favorite artists, browse various information, find out about the dates of future tours, and buy tickets. However, Viberate is designed not only for users, but musicians will also profit from the activity on the platform. Event managers and organizers of live concerts will be able to order and pay sor the services of musicians immediately, so the Viberate base is quickly expanding. They are already trading on a lot of major platforms and hope to one day compete with more established music directories such as Bandsintown, Reverbnation, Bandcamp, and possibly even Ticketmaster. They are actively expanding and just brought on a new celebrity spokeswoman, read the press release below.

"We are super excited to announce our collaboration with the two-time Grammy Award-winning musician Imogen Heap! Heap is an exceptional and inspiring artist who, just like us, strives to reshape the music industry and give all musicians an equal opportunity. "

On a side note, I started doing some research into Imogen Heap. I am blown away by her take on revolutionizing what we consider music and how that music is created. It might not be your style, but I encourage you to watch the following video on how she is using technology to further expand on what music really is. The performance starts at about the13-minute mark.
