RE: {Music Swap} I want to hear what you listen to!

If you weren't aware of why a service like backscratcher isn't good I apologize for having to break it down to you, but it's usually something most people figure out given how curation and interactions work on hive in general.

Either way, being staked in hive is nice and there is a more "guaranteed" reward for doing so, which comes either in curation rewards (~8.5% APR) or HP inflation (~3% APR). The problem with backscratcher is that you automatically vote for people in exchange for their votes back, it's a sort of "blind" way to reward/distribute stake to then in a calculated/predictable way receive those votes you give out back to your post. This effectively means that even tho you only post once per day, you're indirectly giving yourself 10 of your daily votes (all upvote mana) back to yourself. Backscratcher just hides it in the form that you give 1 vote to 10 other people and they in turn give you 1 vote on your post that day.

This defeats the purpose of curation and guarantees a return where you also maximize post rewards of your own stake. This may be something that works on Steem where curation is close to non-existent and stake is all that matters, but here we're trying to make curation and proof of brain to work. The main issue is that what you do requires you to not put in any effort to generate content or build an audience, you don't have to go out and interact with people, follow them, get a follow back, curate them, maybe get curated back, etc, which would make post rewards a bit more unreliable and a form of "give and take" the way it is meant to be.

This results in you being "okay" with receiving higher APR than others who are putting their votes to work properly and may result in you getting that one daily post out just to maximize on post rewards (pretty much your own votes along with some other side trails/autovotes). Basically the extra APR you receive comes at the cost of those not doing similar activities of trading votes either manually or through services like backscratcher or through some services where you delegate and get upvotes based on your delegation but ignoring curation of each and every post you create.

social try instead is going to be worth it a lot more than this method you seem to have become content with.I think @daltono was a long time ago on a similar service and I'm sure he can back me up when I tell you that letting go of it and giving the community and platform a proper

Hope you'll reconsider.

I definitely agree. There are so many other ways to go about curation than a trail that votes for a lot of garbage. Trust me when I say you will be much better off if you leave Backscratcher. I was worried about rewards disappearing, but when you’re doing the right thing good curators tend to notice that.

I don’t think @acidyo is coming at you too harshly. Sometimes we need the brutal truth to wake up from a bad habit.
