J Cole ATM

in #music7 years ago

J. Cole delivered his new album, and according to him, KOD means

Kids on Drugs
King Overdosed
Kill Our Demons

My favorite song on the album is ATM. As the name of the song suggests, “ATM” is all about the money. We find Cole surrounded by it, portraying a gambler, a casino dealer, and a used car salesman. He can also be seen counting endless stacks of cash and confined in a leather straight jacket.
In an interview in 2014, Cole said:

"There’s no amount of money that will ever make you stop if money is what you care about… You’ll never have enough, you’ll be chasing it forever. It doesn’t stop, it keeps calling you, it’s like a drug."

What do you think J Cole's message is in his song "ATM"?

Sort:

its better to die now than take another breath of air if your not after money because all your doing is taking up valuable space

I dont believe that chasing money is the way we were intended to live life. We were created to love one another and be there for each other.

Watch this and his lifestory if you have time.
This is the way i intend to live my life
Seek first the kingdom of God and all the other things will be added to you

massa come uganda only poverty go beat u eh

Donald you need to learn how to better phrase your sentences. While having adequate money is very important, it’s not a matter of life and death.
In life there’s so much more that’s more valuable like family and good relationships and bonds. Living happily is not all about money oh.
You need to think about what would make you happier in life cause I can assure you, it’s not money. Money is a means to an end.

Also I understand where you are coming from. I’ve lived back home and here so I understand the difference in what’s more valuable. People have their most basics needs met here (at least relatively speaking) and they care for more family time , which people have a lot of back home. On the other hand back home people care more about having money to enjoy time with family and friends .

i understand am just discouraged the money am seeing since monday is too small for ma effort ya

You can’t be discouraged when you are just starting. Many others are here like you but they keep working hard.

Wow that was very meaningful. It’s really true that we never can get enough money. The richest people have to keep up a lifestyle and have to keep up with their peers. That’s why it’s important to a healthy supply of income instead and of chasing after money.

You are making a difference.Thank you for being there for me

No problem bro.

wow...you put it so nicely. I agree

You're even more beautiful on the inside than you are on the outside.
You have the courage of your convictions.

Give me an answer please as a brother's keeper!
A number of things I have always carefully thought about: THE NEED AND GREED OF MANKIND!!!!!!..
Who owns all the money under the sun? What is the sum total and how much money has been made available for each and every person to use in meeting their life needs. When they come into this life how much are they supposed to bring along and how much they should go with when their temporary earthly life on earth is over?
Also, if every human is entitled to some money/riches, why is there so much greed among the rich people, that they even forget that like the poor (whom they disregard) they too will one day die or can die any moment, leaving behind everything they have garnered during this life on earth; and they cannot depart with a single penny as and when they come to die or once dead, they will not return to reclaim whatever possessions they left behind?
An answer please! Thank you.

Money is does not measure a human being's worth...atleast not to me.
It is just a tool to foster commercial transactions. We didnt come with that and we are certainly not leaving with it. The Egyptian pharaohs tried to take their gold and possessions with them but where are those possessions today? The Americans dug up their graves and the gold is in museums.
I dont understand your question exactly but the message im trying to spread is that money/riches is not the key to happiness...the more you have, the more you want. So...you become miserable because you keep chasing it but you feel empty inside..its like a hampster wheel...you just keep going in circles but you dont reach your destination.
God is the answer.
