In 1994. one band released their debut album,which change whole metal world and bring new genre of metal to the table.
You guess,it's Korn with their album Korn.
Grunge ruled the world in these days,metal was on life support and this album shake things to it's core.
The first single show everybody that they have to take Korn for real,that we witness something big that coming.
That single is Blind,i love to say that is Korn's Enter Sandman,song that they have to play on every concert and which drives audience to go insane.
It was something different,songs without solos but with strong groove and heavy as fuck.
Brilliant rhythm section,amazing frontmen and singer and guitarist who shoots heavy riffs.
You want be wrong if you say that Korn invented Nu metal,how it was called.
Alongside with Deftones,System Of A Down and Slipknot.
Lyrics was about anxiety,pain,sexual abuse,rejection and lot of young people can relate to it.
And not to mention that Jonathan Davis now how to bring these lyrics with his style of singing and his energy.
It also have a big dose of psychedelic,which is as a Brian Head Welch confess in his autobiography result of taken a lot of drugs while they were writing and recorded that first album.
So i would dare to say that Jonathan Davis,Head,Munky,Fieldy and David Silveira made a little bit of music history in 1994.
And to me most important thing about Korn is that they could bring all of those noises and their sound live to the audience,and they doing this to this day.
They are just amazing live band,which i was lucky to witness in person on their 2011. concert in Zagreb.
To this day that album is still my favorite of theirs,best and on top of their discography.
Album is closed with disturbing,slow and emotional song Daddy.
It's John's fight with his demons,song about sex abuse that he experienced when he was a boy.
So what to say in the end,listen to album if i woke up nostalgia in you.
I just listen to it,and even after 23 years it sounds different,fresh and heavy.
