Last weekend, I had the pleasure of heading to a concert with the wife. She treated us to an evening enjoying the groovy tunes of English Pop/Rock band Glass Animals right outside Philly at a venue called The Mann. As I don’t get out to concerts all that often, I was super pumped for this one. They put out some catchy music that I’ve had the pleasure to soak in on the Alt Rock stations I sometimes absorb while driving or working at home.
Another reason I was looking forward to it was that we had a small group of family joining in the fun. Two of my cousins, one of their daughters, my daughter, and her boyfriend all came along for the evening…and it started with the parking lot tailgating.
I volunteered to be the DD, so my wife could have the option of chugging some beverages…and chug she did. She pounded 3 Irish Car Bombs in like 20 minutes, along side a few of the others in the group. I stay clear as those things make me want to yak. I’ll stick with puffin a little bud, thank you very much.
After a fiasco of our car battery dying resulting in the windows being stuck down, locating a pair of jumper cables, and a willing party to give us a little battery love…we were on our way into the show.
The downside was that our late arrival with the addition of lawn seats on the main stage, left us in a position to where we couldn’t even see the stage. Therefore, we watched on the monitors. That, alongside a not so spectacular sound system resulted in a just ok experience.
As far as Glass Animals go, I thought they sounded great. Really on point and they seemed to have put on a solid show. No crazy theatric or stage show…simply the meat and potatoes. I think we probably all would have enjoyed it a bit more if our seating situation wasn’t as abysmal as it was, but it wasn’t the end of the world.
A solid shoutout to my cousins Danny, Mark, and Mark’s daughter Mia for not only coming to the show while being generally unfamiliar with the band…but for driving a couple hours each way to get there. Oh, and for the jumper cables. 😆
With that being said, I figured I’d take this opportunity to showcase a handful of my favorite Glass Animal tunes. Hopefully, they gain a new fan in one of you somewhere after taking a listen. So crank up the volume & peep these mofo’s out! In no particular order…
A Tear in Space (Airlock)
One of their newest jams, this song had an unbelievable catchy hook. I rock the fuck out to this in my car all the time. Love it!
Heatwave
If you are only going to know one song from these guys, I’m betting it’s this one. It was a huge hit for them some years back and kinda blasted them into a new world. Badass!
Creatures in Heaven
Probably my favorite song by them. Catchy, heartfelt, pretty. Weirdly makes me tear up. Perfect!
The Other Side of Paradise
This is just a cool, chill, and fun tune I’ve enjoyed for years…most of those years not even knowing this was them. 🤷♂️
While this video is absolutely fun and creative from a “Music Video” standpoint, I hate the chatty interruptions mid song!!! C’mon!!!
Gooey
This is the first song I knew from these guys. When my wife and I were in the early stages of dating, she would rock this on the regular, leading me to become a fan. So besides it being a totally trippy tune, it reminds me of my wife…which rules. Simply Delicious.
Life Itself
Another one of their earlier songs I got into some years back that I initially didn’t even know was them, it is just another fun tune to jam out to. Fun!
Discovering groovy new jams is one of the great gifts of life. Music can be magical, personal, and fun as it breathes life into us….so I hope you enjoyed something here. I’ll end in saying thank you for popping by. It always means a ton to have any of you taking your limited and precious time, to spend reading my drivel. 🙏

I like your shirt!
Thx! Gotta represent!
Oh cool. I like those guys, I think it sold out in my area pretty quick though.
You get out to a lot of shows? My wife loves concerts and used to go to a ton, although I rarely go these days.
I do. I love live music. Saw Primus with Coheed and Cambria last month and some bluegrass (Molly Tuttle) a couple weeks ago with my older kids. Last year my 15 year old asked me to take him to the Rob Zombie show, which immediately made him my favorite kid (for the day, anyhow).
That must have been such a cool experience! I miss attending a concert but happily, a few more are just around the corner with the summer slowly coming to an end.
Great post 🙌🏾❤️
Wonderful to share. Nice photographs.
