Come Over When You’re Sober Pt.2 By Lil Peep - My Review

Yesterday announced the release of Lil Peep’s second album, Come Over When You’re Sober Pt.2.

Although Gus unfortunately passed away late last year, his work for this album was pieced together by Peep’s close friend and producer Smokeasac with help also from Peep’s mom, Liza Womack.
This album (Cowys pt.2) is the sequel, if you will, to Gus’ first album Come Over When You’re Sober Pt.1 which consisted of Peep’s greatest songs such as Save that s*** and Awful things. All of the songs on this album showcase Peep’s voice. A canny style that almost lags behind the beat on purpose and sounds perfect with the melodies Peep implemented in his work.

The first song Broken Smile (My all) is almost the perfect opening to a Peep album. It opens with a steel drum that fades into a classic Peep sound; an alt-rock guitar. This particular track genuinely gave me chills as it was the first real glimpse of Peep singing in his gothic/emo style (however Peep never liked to genre his music) since Cowys pt.1. My other worth to mention tracks include Hate Me, Leanin’ and IDGAF, however all of the tracks on the album are worth a listen.

Peep’s music was only loved by a niche amount of people however it was felt by everyone that listened to it. I could write about this boy all day however to cut it short I will say that I really hope this isn’t the end of Peep’s rather short but promising legacy and I hope that we see more of Gus’ work one day, and if we don’t, I am more than happy for this amazing project to be the last thing we remember him for.
