Hi Steemit Community!
My name is Brennan Murray. I wish I could say I know how to start on this platform; but, like many of you, I am navigating the sea without a compass.
I wish I could say a brief introduction for myself, but in a humble manner, I have led many lives in a brief time. I suppose I would start with the basics: I am a 24 year old male from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where I have lived nearly my entire life. If you haven’t been, it’s a quaint city with about a million people and a bustling middle class. About 3-4 hours west lies the Rocky Mountains which I frequently visit. It’s often hard to recognize how privileged you are that you can be so close to natural wonders and not marvel at them constantly.
I grew up as the son of two grandmothers, Rose and Jean. Realistically, they raised me while they both lived at my house. My parents didn’t have much influence other than inspiring me to create through musical avenues. My mom is a music teacher and both of my parents were quite supportive in bringing me into the wonderful world of creation and expressing one’s inner self.
I have always loved the sports world. From competing in a range of activities, to studying analytics and the “game within the game” (as one coach affectionately called it), i’ve learned a great deal about approaching communities, contribution and teamwork. I am a firm believer that what happens in a competitive team atmosphere is directly translatable to life in general.
As my foundation, I found my faith through an organization called Younglife. {Insert minor Christianity disclaimer} If you aren’t familiar with Younglife, it’s a global organization dedicated to helping teenagers navigate the rough waters of becoming themselves, interacting with the world around them and building community with one another. As leaders, we believed in displaying Christ through our actions, rather than preaching - such as being kind to one another, truly supporting your friends, being humble, giving without the concept of receiving and living a life of purpose. Once more, this shaped who I am, and who I will become on a grand scale.
I am nearly completed my Bachelor of Commerce from MacEwan University in Edmonton and have focused a lot of my time on studying organizations, the tech industry, drop shipping, analytics and project management. As well, I have acted as a Project Manager on multiple occasions. I suppose there’s a lot more that I can get into, but I don’t want to burden any readers with such information.
What I would like to know from the Steemit community is: What should I write on? Should I cover numerous topics, stick to a few, or explore new ones? I want to be able to provide quality content that people are interested in, and I believe the only way to get there is to listen to those exploring the content!
A few ideas could be, my experiences with Younglife, what life in Canada (or specifically Edmonton) is like, what I am currently discovering and researching, etc.
Until my next post, thank you kindly for reading and whatever you do, make a positive impact with those around you.
Brennan
