So I can not stop listening to these records. Here are 10 Artist that I'm bumpin on my Spotify. Reviews, pictures, videos, and lyrics included. I thought that I would do a little blog because I enjoy music and it's always cool to find music that inspires you new or old. Who knows maybe you'll like one of these. Or if you are like me play the song on repeat for days.

Why You Should Pay Attention: Ravyn Lenae is a high school senior – she graduates from the Chicago High School for the Arts this summer – who crafts thoughtful and highly lyrical electronic soul. On her 2015 debut Moon Shoes, reissued by Atlantic Records last year, she sings about life as a dreamy, sometimes-melancholy teenager in a softly assertive voice. Her just-released follow-up, the appropriately titled Midnight Moonlight, delves into more romantic concerns with the same quiet grace. From January to March, the 18-year-old toured across the country with hotly tipped rapper Noname. "Before I left, we had put together an academic plan for me where I would basically be doing school online," she says. "I thought it would be much easier juggling tour and school. But there's literally no time to even sleep." Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, Lenae knew she wanted to pursue music at an early age. She sang in church and studied guitar and piano before she linked up with producer Monte Booker, who helped assemble her two EPs. "Honestly, I didn't know it was a project," she says of Moon Shoes. "I wasn't creating with an intention, I was creating solely for releasing my emotions and being creative," .-ROLLINGSTONE

I'm sitting across from you
Vibrations are streaming the emptiness in the room
I take all your words in my hand
Tell me all the things that I am
I wish that I could speak your perfect language
I wish that we could travel to those places
Where we're faceless and we're nameless
Don't you, don't you crave this?
I can feel the atmosphere unfolding
Honey if you pretty hearts worth holding
I can feel the atmosphere unfolding
Tell me if your pretty hearts
I know you wanna hear me
Timed on a blossom dearie
And I try to speak to you in tongues
But you're never here to see me right
And I never seem to lose along
When we're following your stars at night
See your lungs are never beaten right
Your mother's never eaten right
You see she never really won her fight
She's handing me her tortured light
Up, you feel the tribulations they are form into a painting
They are formed into a painting of us
As I appear across the nation, all your stars get to formation
They are more than your creation of love
Honey we don't have the hearts to sink a painting
???sleep right here
Feel, I wish that I could speak your perfect language
I wish that we could travel to those places
Where we're faceless and we're nameless
Who on danger? Don't you crave this?
And don't you wanna hear me
Timed on a blossom dearie

Koop, the duo of Oscar Simonsson and Magnus Zingmark, seem to grasp what many other trip-hop production units never did -- that, no matter which instruments are used in your productions, digital or acoustic or electric, a sense of place is what should never be lost. Their debut album Waltz for Koop, with its languorous textures and tugging sense of melancholy, one-upped a parade of other deservedly recognized acts who had come in the wake of Air (groups like Royksopp, Zero 7, and Groove Armada). Koop Islands, the duo's first proper record in six years, is another quality collection of songs, with guest vocalists and the returning Yukimi Nagano usually providing exactly the right touch for each song (credit Koop for those personnel decisions). Ane Brun contributes the best, a swinging French chanson named "Koop Island Blues" with pining accordion and vibraphone (plus a devastating clarinet solo from Koop's Lindgren himself). Earl Zinger stops by to lighten the mood on two tracks, including a humorous "letter home" on the track "Beyond the Son." Part of what helps the pair stand apart is their instrumental prowess and obvious arranging talents; Koop Islands is one of the few records of the '90s and 2000s that has exactly the right atmosphere to suit trip-hop fans and all the ingredients for an excellent contemporary jazz record.-AllMUSIC.COM

Hello, my love
It's getting cold on this island
I'm sad alone
I'm so sad on my own
The truth is
We were much too young
Now I'm looking for you
Or anyone like you
We said goodbye
With the smile on our faces
Now you're alone
You're so sad on your own
The truth is
We ran out of time
Now you're looking for me
Or anyone like me
Hello, my love
It's getting cold on this island
I'm sad alone
I'm so sad on my own
The truth is
We were much too young
Now I'm looking for you
Or anyone like you

Most artists belong to their times, but Billie Holiday, born 100 years ago Tuesday, fits in the present. In a way, she died before her time, just as the country was beginning to talk about race, drugs, feminism and misogyny — all of which converged in her life-NPR

I'm a fool to want you
I'm a fool to want you
To want a love that can't be true
A love that's there for others too

I'm a fool to hold you
Such a fool to hold you
To seek a kiss not mine alone
To share a kiss the Devil has known

Time and time again I said I'd leave you
Time and time again I went away
But then would come the time when I would need you
And once again these words I'll have to say

I'm a fool to want you
Pity me, I need you
I know it's wrong, it must be wrong
But right or wrong I can't get along
Without you

I can't get along
Without you

Some will be disappointed to hear Kendrick embrace the limits of his own perspective, especially after an album where he channeled so many voices so evocatively. But Kendrick’s self-indulgence on Damn isn’t a loss of ambition. It’s a shifting of priorities, an effort to live life rather than transcend it. In a world on the brink of global war and in a country on the brink of fascism, that sounds quite ambitious to me.-STEPHAN KEARSE-COMPLEX

Founder of jazz label Riverside Records, Orrin Keepnews reflects in the sleeve notes to this reissue that he had managed to keep Chet Baker’s vocals off this 1958 set, Chet. Already a heavy drug user, Baker’s vocals at this period we known to be often awry, but, on the evidence here, his trumpet playing was a little less than masterful too-BBC

I fall in love too easily
I fall in love too fast
I fall in love too terribly hard
For love to ever last
My heart should be well schooled
'Cause I've been fooled in the past
But still I fall in love so easily
I fall in love too fast
My heart should be well schooled
'Cause I've been fooled in the past
But still I fall in love too easily
I fall in love too fast

BECAUSE THIS IS A CLASSIC PERIOD.-Crystal Rose

Just when you think downbeat electronic confessionals – the London millennial sound, bar none – have been wrung dry of inspiration by both innovators and copyists, along comes a standout record that resets its co-ordinates. South Londoner Jamie Isaac has just released Couch Baby, his accomplished, immersive debut album. This 40-minute live set marks its launch, in a bijou converted railway arch located on the same side of the Thames as the album was written. Twelve tracks that combine stoned languor – on record, you can hear something being lit and inhaled – and brooding melancholia, Couch Baby is the sort of record you can wrap yourself up in, headphones on, lights turned down. There are precisely no changes of pace to liven things up; you’re either with Isaac in his magisterial, ambient dub sulk or you’re not. Live and loud, it feels akin to hip-hop: breakbeats and jazz brushstrokes to the fore, bass that rattles the wood panelling on tracks such as the standout Pigeon, tall people nodding hard, transported. In many ways, Isaac’s sound is hugely derivative. When push comes to shove, the 22-year-old is a pianist in the mould of James Blake, whispering lovelorn male intimacies into the dark space carved out by dubstep, redolent of journeys on night buses. Tonight, Isaac stands between a pair of keyboards, mic in one hand, bottle of beer in the other, bobbing and weaving, gesticulating whenever a hand is free. Guitarist Lawrence Turner coaxes atmospheres to his right; behind them, versatile drummer Jake Long rubs up against the programmed beats triggered by gear guy Max Owens, a man-mountain forced to sit on the floor at the back of the stage.-KITTY EMPIRE-THE GUARDIAN

Tash Sultana is an artist that can’t be labeled. She’s more than a singer/songwriter, with heavy stress on psychedelic instrumentals. She’s not indie pop, yet not alternative rock. She’s not reggae, but could very well be considered a combination of all: nothing short of a jam-band inspired rock star. Sultana began her career in Melbourne, Australia, “busking,” or performing on city streets. The street influence is prevalent in her music, filled with sounds of candid improvisation and unlikely instrumental combinations. The one-woman-band gained exposure in public performances and YouTube views, growing a fan base broad enough to sell out shows in Australia, and now, concert halls around America. Today’s song, “Jungle,” written and performed by the 21-year-old musician, perfectly captures all that is Sultana, from mellow mood to intricate vocals.-Kelly Wynne-KELLY WYNNE-ATWOOD MAGAZINE

I see the way you move
It's fluid
Be here by my side
Got nothing to hide
I know that you're hurting
I see the tears behind those eyes
And I can't wipe them clear
Your love is like gold to me
But you hold me closer to the light
You will not find a bullet inside
Unless you magnify
But you throw me into the deep end
Expect me to know how to swim
And I put my faith inside my hands
Cause I will be just fine
[Chorus]
Welcome to the jungle
Are you gonna dance with me
Welcome to the jungle
You got to close your eyes and see
Welcome to the jungle
Are you gonna dance with me
Well hold on
Well hold on
[Alternate Verse]
Suit and tie with the black jeans on
And I'm paralyzed
Cos' I think you got something like the biggest soul I've ever seen
And I think you're the one
Suit and tie, with the curly hair
Making your way with that step and stare
So tell me real, do you feel anything
[Verse]
Ashes to ashes
And the embers are ablaze
Oh, I gotta rise amongst you, though
Then I think about your face every day
But you pull me closer to the light
You wouldn't find a bullet inside
Only if you magnify
[Chorus]
Welcome to the jungle
Are you gonna dance with me
Welcome to the jungle
You got to close your eyes and see
Welcome to the jungle
Are you gonna dance with me
Well hold on
Well hold on

The name Knox Brown is a somewhat unknown entity to many, including in Britain where the vocalist, producer and songwriter resides (Birmingham to be precise). However, the 27-year old has worked with some of the biggest names in the game already, being hailed as the musical secret behind JAY Z and Beyoncé, as well as collaborating with Mary J. Blige, Aloe Blacc and Wretch 32 to name just a few.Brown, who shares his name with the relatively famous 80s Tennessee middleweight boxer, was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica before settling in the UK at the tender age of 12. Since then he has perfected his passion and penchant for music, in particular Jazz, Dub, Soul and Hip Hop and has released a steady stream of innovative and refreshing music in a city already brewing with talent- JACK GAROFALO -THE SOURCE

This is dope! If you like Ravyn Lenae you should check out Smino, who is from St. Louis. He collaborates with a lot of artists from Chicago.

They did this song together which is one of my favorites off of Smino's most recent album Blkswn. Great song!
