Three Tune Tuesday: Rebellious Youth Edition

in #music6 months ago

Hey Hive!

It's another scorching day, and I'm sweating golf balls, but I still want to share some tunes and make a couple of Hive bucks. Life has been expensive lately – just had the car serviced, which set us back almost 1300€. At least it's drivable again.

Today, I want to take you back to my "rebellious" youth, when I was around 16 to 19 years old. Here are three tracks that defined that period for me:

1. Brian Eno – "Here Come The Warm Jets"

Brian Eno's "Here Come The Warm Jets" features a familiar riff later popularized by Injury Reserve. I discovered Brian Eno while searching the local library for ambient music. His experimental approach and unique sound captivated me, and this track remains a standout from that discovery.

2. Pineapple Circles – "Sliced Circles"

During my ambient phase, I frequented illegal raves. While I enjoyed the dancing, the drug culture disturbed me. However, I discovered some great music, including this relatively unknown Finnish chill-out project, Pineapple Circles. "Sliced Circles" from the album "distant adrifting circles" became a favorite. I used to listen to it in my car all the time, until someone broke into my car and stole the CD-player, along with the album.

Recently, I found someone in Spain selling it and had to order it – I loved it that much.

3. Underworld – "Pearl's Girl"

I got into Underworld after watching "Trainspotting" and hearing "Born Slippy". It was love at first listen. Although I rarely listen to Underworld these days, "Pearl's Girl" still resonates with me. I can literally feel the "water on sand and concrete" lyrics combined with the intensive bass drums and synths, they create a unique flow, and atmosphere that I still enjoy.

I hope you enjoy these tracks from my "rebellious" youth. What songs defined your teenage years? Feel free to share in the comments!

Stay cool!
