Happy Three Tune Tuesday friends!
Gene did a Nineties Sk8 Punk solo TTT post over at @geneeverett so I’m taking over and going solo today! You can see his solo post here 👇

Similar to Gene I’m going nineties tunes that are lesser known. Focusing on “SKA” bands early work before they got more famous later on. You likely know some of these bands but likely not the tunes!
First Up! 👇
it’s the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and there major label debut from 1994. They had no hits on this album but had been already signed to a big label, similar to No Doubts 1992 Major label debut it was just to early for the ska sound to go big. Still a great album! Just the masses weren’t ready for it.
I pick the song Kinder Words from the album Question the Answers
Second Up! 👇
It’s No Doubt who had signed to a major label many years before there 1995 album blew up. In fact they almost got dropped after how badly there 1992 debut record bombed hard commercially. Unlike the 1995 album that mixes new wave vibes with the sis sound in 1992 they were pretty much strait up ska.
I pick the song Move On from the self titled 1992 album No Doubt
Third Up! 👇
Last up it’s a band who didn’t quite get the same level of mainstream success as the first two tunes. It’s the band Less Than Jake. Probably love this band just as much as the others but the mainstream never picked up on it like it did for the others here. They did get more exposure off the 1998 follow up record but just not same level.
I pick the song Automatic off the 1996 album Loosing Streak
Bonus Tune! 👇
Picking the song Here In Your Bedroom from the band Goldfinger off there 1995 album Goldfinger
Yes I listened to that early album too in the 90s. After I discovered them.
A good day for some lovely tunes
Yes!!! The songs are giving!!!
