Join fellow music lovers on a quest to find the best tracks!
Here's how it works:
"OST" stands for Original Soundtrack, a term used to describe the music from films / videogames. Each week there will be a new featured soundtrack to listen through and comment on. Regardless of your experience or familiarity with that week's OST, everyone's opinions are welcome! Part of the fun is discovering great music in unexpected places, so even if you think a particular OST isn't your style, give it a shot! You might be surprised!

Since you used Super Mario RPG as an example, I think my favorites from that ost is Fight Against Monsters, Beware of the Forests Mushrooms, Fight Against Culex, and my ULTIMATE favorite is Dodo's Coming!! The music in SMRPG reminds me of Donkey Kong and Final Fantasy combined. It really is great for when I need to do work!✨
As an added bonus, featured commenters will receive half of final payout from last week's post

Comment Guidelines
Since this is a brand new series (and my first time running something like this) I won't lay down any hard rules, just remember to include the track title and an explanation on why you picked it. Feel free to be as detailed as you want! Music can be very personal and resonate very differently for every person. Maybe a song brings back special memories in your life, or a melody sounds similar to another favorite song of yours, or you just want to argue why your pick is the absolute best compared to all the others! Whatever it is, share it with us!
A few bonus tips: try to listen to the full OST before picking a song and writing your comment. Even if you find a track early on, you never know if an even better one is just around the corner! It's also perfectly ok to skip songs that you don't enjoy.
Comments will be accepted up to a week after the original post so take your time and soak in the music!
[Guidelines subject to change if the need arises.]
Rewards
While you can be sure to receive a vote from me if your comment is high quality, I'm also aware my voting power is limited! So I might create a system that rewards the top comment (or comments) with a share of the original post's final payout. The more people that participate, the greater potential for earning! (Allowing winners to pick next week's OST might be an option too) But for now we'll keep things simple and see how this test-run goes.
Why am I doing this?
I love listening to OSTs! As a kid I probably listened to more movie / videogame soundtracks than any other genre. And to this day I still love jumping into a fresh batch of OSTs I've never heard before and making playlists out of my favorite tracks (which you can find on my channel here). A few years back I made it my mission to listen to every Super Nintendo OST, to find all those hidden music gems in games I've never played before. I even made a steemit post about it here if you're curious!
And so, "OST Quest" was born out of my desire to share that sense of discovery with others and hopefully foster some interesting conversations about music in the process.
Time to get listening!

"Swamp Palace" Ended up being my favorite track in this list, mostly because I'm familiar with the original song it's based on (from the original Zelda on the NES). I feel when games do throwbacks to old songs, they usually just recreate the same song with updated sounds / instruments, but this track is a full re-imagining of the original with new harmonies and moods that really caught me off guard. It even takes the creepy melody and gives it brief moments of hopefulness that didnt exist in the original.
