Backlit by Isis from the album Panopticon (2004)
In the later period of years of heavy interest and involvement in many genres of Metal I came upon Isis in the mid 2000s with their album Panopticon. The tinkle of long drawn out guitar patterns and minimal vocals resonated greatly with me then and now. Panopticon proved to be a transitional album for me eventually leading to interest in post-rock groups like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Explosions in the Sky.
FYI Isis’s name has no connection to the Islamic State of Iraq. The band Isis disbanded in 2010.
