My Steemit journey begins! Watch out, I'm bringing the music to you!

Hello Steemit community!

My name is Joshua, and I am an instrumental composer studying music education at an accredited university in New Jersey. I also volunteer my time and talents towards private projects, films, and game-development programs.

Music has always been the driving force that keeps my life going forward.  Ever since I was introduced to instruments at a very young age, I have always been fond of listening to and performing instrumental music.  I started playing the trumpet in 5th grade and have been playing ever since.  But my passion for composing wasn't discovered until my freshman year of high school, when my school's concert band traveled to Italy for our big international music program trip.  We performed in and visited several cities, including Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Vatican City.

We performed at this beautiful church in Rome.

This was right outside the Colosseum.

But during that trip, I met world renowned composer, Frank Ticheli.  We performed some of his works, including Vesuvius (a composition based on the story of the volcanic incident that wiped out Pompeii), San Antonio Dances (Ticheli's story of his journey in San Antonio, Texas), and his beautiful arrangement of Amazing Grace.

My picture with world renowned composer, Frank Ticheli! I had a copy of my part in Vesuvius signed by him, but I lost it. I know it's in my home somewhere!

Someone actually took a video of our performance of Frank Ticheli's music in Rome. We performed with three other schools and community bands, and because I was a trumpet player, we were all at the back. It was a huge concert. Did I forget to mention that Frank Ticheli was the conductor?

Since that trip, I felt a beating in my heart, and it has been pulling me towards the composing life.  As of today, this will be my 7th year of experience in the field. I compose a variety of music, ranging from concert band/orchestral music, to film and gaming.

Below are links to some of my music! I hope you enjoy them!

One of my friends in the game-development organization that I work for, Solace Workshop, introduced me to Steemit, and thought I should give this a try.  At first I was hesitant because I didn't think I needed it.  But, I am willing to give it a try!  I hope you will support me in my journey with Steemit!

Frank Ticheli wrote a great choral piece called "Earth Song." I teach choral music in public school and my students LOVED his music. I also graduated from an accredited university in New Jersey :)
