An Open Forum - Can Steemit save Indie Music?

in #music8 years ago (edited)

As an internet publisher and Independent music promoter, I am definitely excited about the future of the independent music industry. As more musicians adapt to the music industry's not-so-new reality that operating a do-it-yourself enterprise is probably your best bet for (at least) a decent amount of exposure and success with any musical project.

With a growing number of independent music publishing websites like CD Baby, Radio AirPlay, and iTunes; and music apps like Pandora, Spotify, and Jango, musicians everywhere are finally getting a chance to showcase their talents to a broader audience. Now, we all know that it's very easy for an independent musician to go online nowadays and publish their own content on various social media platforms, but only a few of those platforms will actually help these musicians make any type of income for their efforts. Hence the excitement for these new platforms like CD Baby, Radio AirPlay, etc. So, as advocates of the cryptocurrency world, we should be asking ourselves how to incorporate cryptocurrencies to this new paradigm shift for maximum momentum. Jango has kind of paved the way for this idea; incorporating a way to "tip" your favorite independent musicians with Neucoin, but let's face it, I haven't seen any musician actually get hyped up because someone tipped them 5 Neucoin (that's all Radio AirPlay gives users to tip musicians).

So where does Steemit fit in with all this? Please reply with your own insights on how this could work. Could Steemit save the music industry? I think it can. Well, at least the Independent music landscape would look a whole lot better!

Am I trending yet? lol

Steemit could be big for music but the community and the artist will have to buy into it. artist like The weeknd and Lil B blew up from their strong social media following. Steemit users will have to find that champion artist and support and elevate them. This way Steemit as well as the artist gets shine. All it will take is for one artist to strike big on here.
