In western Africa we have drums like this that we beat for our cultural dances as well in my place of Origin in southern east of Nigeria, expecially in big occasions really that's why I think Calypso may be intertwined with African culture as well.
This is beautifully written a contemporary text of a brilliantly rich culture.
hello @josediccus indeed the movies don't tell us the truth. neither from the caribbean nor from africa. for me the caribbean is a small part of africa in the american continent. and seeing it from a scientific point of view it was at some point united africa to america.
