Im of the opinion that Nigeria produces the best of music in the world ranging from pop, highlife, Rnb, reggaeton and the further diversification of pop into afro-pop and others not to even talk of rap and hip-hop. Recently I was watching The Lion King premiere and I saw a host of artist that was presented by Beyonce it was a fusion of some of the best hands when it comes to music in Nigeria and you cannot obviously overlook this when it comes to some of the most indigenous African music in the world. **A whole lot of people believe that music is basically about the lyrics but in recent times this hasn't been so.

In most cases people have definitely loved music that touches their soul, music that can tap into their subconscious how can even make them remember memories in fact sometimes people places or attached sentiments to music in relativity to their lives** and this is what Nigerian music brings to the table. Wizkid's "ojuelegba" was a song that definitely went places. It appealed to people about life struggles and the resilience to fulfill dreams. In earnestly race, boundary or barrier couldn't even deter so many Europeans, Asians and Americans making cover of the song and it virtually crowned the 29 year old as one of the legends of afro-pop

I grew up listening to the likes of Celine Dion, Westlife, LL Cool J, R Kelly, Usher, Lucky Dube, Kevin Little and so Many others. The thing was that I listened less to Nigerian music as at that time and I can't pinpoint the main reason why this was so, what day was this rave about foreign music that made us fall in love with her music was done in the past but since it has deteriorated vehemently and these days we have to settle for the Lights of Future I kind of think that the less qualitative songs done by foreigners reduced drastically in the last 15 years and I may think this is the reason why I came back home to listen more to my country's music so it wasn't as if Nigeria didn't do good music in the past 15 years but the truth is the quality of music from the likes of musicians I mentioned made it very difficult for me to pay attention to Nigerian musicians who obviously has at that time was doing well

So in earnest I look at the so many collaborations that Nigerian musicians have had with foreigners and how many Awards they have won down the years for relatively doing good music and it makes me come to the terms that the world is reckoning powerfully with Africa as a result of majorly Nigerian music. Don't get me wrong, countries like Kenya, South Africa with Lucky Dube, Congo with the likes of Koffi Olomide and Awilo Logomba have done wonderfully well for African music but you can't help but notice that Nigeria has put back Africa on the map with the likes of contemporary music, creativeness and sheer beauty when it comes to music in the last 8 years. Truth is the Nigerian audience is basically the reason why every artiste is taking time to come out with good music take a look at Burna boy who burst into the music scene 8 years ago, *The gbona crooner has been banging and raking in so many award internationally and truth is it wasn't so many years ago. I'd like to attribute it to sheer hard work, resilience and talent and the Nigerian music industry is obviously the best in the world and one of the best in the world.

the reason why you were listening to "Celine Dion, Westlife, LL Cool J, R Kelly, Usher, Lucky Dube, Kevin Little and so Many others" is solely because they were producing better music. period.
nigeria is doing well for herself in africa(truthfully sub-sahara africa) is because it is now beginning to follow the footsteps of the western world.
when you compare nigerian hip-hop and blues to that of Celine Dion, Westlife, LL Cool J, R Kelly, Usher, Lucky Dube, Kevin Little and so Many others during that time it is beyond obvious that nigerian music was waste material.

thank goodness, the likes of don jazzy, dbanj, wizkid, olamide, etc are putting nigeria on the map. As far as music goes, nigeria has a long way to go.

Haha now that's funny but bias and unobjective.
