This is a story of Stet, a troubled and angry 11-year-old orphan from a small Texas town, ends up at a Boy Choir school back East after the death of his single mom. Completely out of his element, he finds himself in a battle of wills with a demanding Choir Master who recognizes a unique destiny and gift in Music.
I tell you of a truth, you can change everything but you can’t change the mystery behind your wonderful and beautiful gift, for example, this blog starts with the story of a young boy, Stet, who tried to run away from his God-given gift – Music. Thank God for his Music Coordinator who assisted him to be back on his footing through words of encouragement, admonition whenever he errs and standing by him when he was unjustly treated and about to be expelled from school.
Meet the gifted Child in action
This boy has the voice, the composure, natural beauty (you know a man Is always associated with the word handsomeness but when we say that a male is beautiful, it goes beyond the real word to that of an angel) and every good thing that God is associated with. Yes, this boy has everything it takes to be the best boy in the school but something kept dragging him back, the circumstances surrounding his conception and birth. His mother was a stripper when his father met her and she conceived and gave birth to Stet but his father would not want his wife to know about his infidelity and so, he abandoned Stet and his mother. But after Stet's mum's death through an auto crash, he was left alone in the world. However, a female Welfare Officer discovered the young Stet and decided to treat him like her own son. Out of compulsion, Stet's father decided to send him to a school far away from where he lives so that his family,, particularly his wife will not discover his little secret.
Stet fought in the first school and was expelled. In the second school, his fellow students tried to taunt him by pasting a newspaper cut-out of the story of his mother's reckless, drunken life and death, which he wanted to put behind him which pushed him to fight again, not minding the rule of no fighting. But his music teacher, who has discovered his talent in music and singing was able prevail and their over-all choirmaster, Dustin Hoffman had pity on him and Stet remained in the school. He was retained with a warning of go and sin no more. Thank God that the Music Master/Coordinator forced him to take up the challenge in Music and stay or quit because, according to him quitting is what he knows best to do. He gathered himself together and decided to give God a chance to be in charge of all he does and he was rewarded with huge success when he was made a lead-singer because Devon took ill and could not participate. Secondly, he sang better than Devon. Here is where Stet and the boys rendered the Hallelujah Chorus that brought him to the lime light.
This is taken from acclaimed director François Girard (THE RED VIOLIN) from where this inspirational story of a rebellious kid with a remarkable gift who is challenged by a demanding teacher to make the most use of his talent or the loss of such a talent will haunt him for life was taken.
Sandra Hall told us that "The choir at the centre of the action is made up of the best students from a nationally renowned American academy run by hard-headed but big-hearted Kathy Bates. She's the headmistress and an equally acerbic Dustin Hoffman is the choirmaster. While he can sound at times like J.K. Simmons' tyrannical drumming teacher from Whiplash, this is a much more conventional movie, so he's really just pretending to be nasty.
But Stet (Garrett Wareing), the film's 11-year-old hero, doesn't know that. He's just arrived at the east coast academy from a small town in Texas where he has so impressed the school's headmistress (Debra Winger) with his singing voice that she has talked the academy into giving him an audition. But Stet, who looks like a juvenile James Dean, is not sure he wants it. He's a rebel with an array of causes. His mother, who's been addicted to drugs and alcohol, has just died in a car accident and his wealthy father (Josh Lucas), who has another family, refuses to play any part in his life. He does stay around long enough, however, to smooth Stet's way into the academy with a very large cheque".
Thank God that Stet's step mother, after her husband had made up his mind and was courageous enough to confess the sin, which took him many years, forgave her husband and encouraged him to bring Stet home to join his two senior sisters, which made the family, a family of two girls and one boy. What a wonderful reunion of almost lost son with the rest members of his family.
After watching this video, you will agree with me that every child deserves proper and parental care and that those who are working frantically to bring the youths to steemit in full force are doing the right thing and working to catch them young. This will reduce all sorts of youthful exuberance because even me as an adult is finding steemit very interesting and challenging in a way, how much more the youths who are so very adventurous and can go extra miles to achieve huge success in whatever they do. Let us in our own little way encourage the young ones.
Conclusion
In conclusion, parents and adults are advised not t neglect or under-rate any child no matter the situation. Every child has a gift and it is the responsibility of every parent to help them discover their gifts. They should not abandon any child because of ego, self-esteem or to cover their dirty little secret because in the long run they will be drowned by the same little secret they tried to cover and like a monster which will swallow them up. Proper Parenting is very important for the welfare of any child but if you are too proud to confess dirty or secret sin, you should even be more proud as not to commit the sin. This takes us to the next blog – ## Video clip of the Boy Choir and Confession.
