Quick progress video on the violin...
I have been trying my best to practice daily but even if I don't make it everyday, three times a week is my minimum goal. I did a quick improv based on some scales, nothing fancy.
It's pretty hard to see any progress because it seems so slow, for reference here is a video from around 2 months ago. Doesn't seem a whole lot better IMO!
Also just an FYI, I'm not ambidextrous, my new camera seems to have flipped the recording and I didn't realize until I exported it and now it's really bugging me because the room is reversed, derp.
i can hear you getting better. i think you live in an alternate universe where the bedroom is flipped. but in that universe your name is peartree and you live with a flying goat.
This is getting into physics pretty fast
Well as long as I'm not getting worse that's something 😅

My respects, anyone can criticize, but not everyone dares to learn something new

Thanks, there are some violin snobs who say don't even bother learning as an adult which is crazy ! Sure it's hard but not impossible.

Really? Haha, I'll tell you what is very easy, do not try. I am learning to draw now as adult, is it harder? Maybe, but I like it I enjoy it, don't stop, keep going,😊

Improvement indeed, melancolic improvisation. Is that a mirror video? It looks awkward as if you're a lefty!
P.S. Nevermind, I just finished reading your text about camera glitch lol.
Yes new camera reversed the room and I didn't even notice at first lol, thanks Drakos :)
NO YOU!!!! :P
Oo, one thing I can see maybe I can help with:
It looks like you hold the thing too far forward, it should rest pretty comfortably on the side of your jaw. For my viola I think its a little more forward but still at a shallower angle.
You probably actually know this since the second video looks right, but whatever, I'm just trying to leave a comment
I find there's so many more rules that are necessary in general to get a proper sound compared to guitar where you just pick some strings and that's that... long journey ahead for me!
I don't know why but I struggle to hold it stable like that, I even bought a little shoulder rest and it doesn't feel quite right, maybe I just need to mess around with the placement more.
Yeah the shoulder rest helped me big time. Wrong way round or something daft like that? Fat side attaches to the side of the chin rest thingy. Violins always feel weird and small to me no matter what though. No going back from the viola! We should become mortal enemies
LOL, funny you say that I tried switching it both ways round and even watched a video for attaching the rest, tried angling it a few different ways, raising/lowering it etc. In the end I don't use it that much!
