When did I know I wanted to be a "Creative"?

in #music7 years ago

Okay, Okay! So if you haven't already seen my introduceyourself post I'll catch you up! I'm a creative. Although it may sound like I am describing an "Artist", I am a creative!

Hear me out! The Oxford Dictionary defines an artist in three different forms, today I am only gonna elaborate on one!

".. A person skilled at a particular task or occupation... "

From the start it seems that an artist is limited to one task, occupation or subject at hand. Funnily enough, as humans, we are BORN, DESTINED and most importantly FREE to be apart of and love as much as we can! One day I'll be able to find a great way to define a "Creative" or maybe I wont? I find this life so fasinating and complex! That's what I love about being human, lets talk about an inspiration of mine!

I love rap! This was something I spoke about in my last post! My love for rap came primarily from a combination of a passion for the POWER of music and an appreciation for the LOVE and craftsmanship in poerty. I still remember the first ever rap CD my parents had bought me. Ill mention too, I was eight or ten at the time! Eminem's Encore (2004) , an album which included some of his best known hits Just Lose It, Mockingbird and Ass Like That. Why is this important? Well, in this album Eminem shows how diverse his style truly is. This album we feel his story telling, bounce to songs that are entertaining and fun, then jump back to story telling again. It's a full package deal with this album, with great production work and strong lyrics! I heard this album, felt Em's pain, confusion, lust, love, happiness and most importantly I felt like a boss. Yes I am referring to One Shot, Two Shot!

But it was in that moment, in the middle of my bedroom floor, right next to my PlayStation One , T.V. and Stereo System, I realised. I want to do that! I want to make people feel! I want to have an influence in someones life, create something powerful, meaningful. Something that could affect me, years after its original production and technically not even in person!

If you ever see this, Marshall, than thank you! This is a result of the power of your words, melodies and production/engineering teams!

This is the last part, I promise! Thank you for staying a while! Here is an example of my own work. I'm about to bring this together now! I am a creative, right? Not an Artist, I do not limit myself to one task or trade! Above is a photo from my Youtube Channel, I created this channel about a year ago now. This is where I post my rap, images and logo's created! I find there is a greater reward when you create all your own work!

The Photo was taken in my CBD, The song talks about childhood innocence and I reflect on my life growing up briefly! This was a colabed piece with a childhood friend, Josh McBride and although, this is not one of my favourite works, It is one of my most genuine pieces. It pay's homage to what I decided on from a young age, to create something meaningful, maybe powerful and even relate-able. I may not get paid to do this work, but that doesn't matter much, what matters is the connection and influence I can have on people! I dream that one day, Ill be able to influence the world in a positive way!

Thanks for checking this out!

Until the next time!
