Annie Lennox – “I Put A Spell On You”
“I Put A Spell On You” (2014 – original from 1956)
This cover of “I Put a Spell on You” was the lead single on Annie Lennox’s 2014 album “Nostalgia.” The album comprises covers of various blues, soul, and jazz songs that had been her childhood favorites.
Steemin’ Diva
At points, Annie’s performance is almost as wild as that of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins in his original version of this song. And in a way, much more powerful and dynamic. Moreover, she delivers this version with a powerful dose of blues.
Whether against the sparse instrumentation of the intro, or the full-band sound of the climax, Annie’s vocals command the stage.
Annie Lennox
Annie Lennox is a Scottish singer-songwriter who came to fame in the late 1970s with the British pop/new-wave band The Tourists. For most of the 1980s, she was the lead singer with the massively popular UK synth-pop duo The Eurythmics. (Image source)
Great Music
Her first two solo LPs both entered the charts at Number 1. The award-winning “Diva” has sold over 1.2 million copies, while “Medusa” has sold over 2 million copies.
A Fine Human
Annie is known for her philanthropic work for various causes and with various organizations, including the British Red Cross, Amnesty International, Oxfam, and UNESCO, for whom she was named a “Goodwill Ambassador for Aids.” In light of her diligent AIDS activism across Africa, Archbichop Desmond Tutu praised Annie Lennox as an “exemplary human being.” I put a spell on youBecause you're mine You'd better stop the things you do
I tell you, I ain't lyin'
I ain't lyin' You know I can't stand it
You're runnin' around
You know better, daddy
I can't stand it, ‘cause you put me down
Oh no
I put a spell on you
Because you're mine You know I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you anyhow
And I don't care if you don't want me
I'm yours right now I put a spell on you
Because you're mine
You know I can't stand it
You're runnin' around
You know better, daddy
I can't stand it, ‘cause you put me down
Oh ooh I put a spell on you
Because you're mine
Because you're mine
Because you're mine

I well you can count me in @majes.tytyty
Love this classic tune. And Annie Lenox does a great job with her voice in this cover!
Anyway, my favorite is the old Creedence Clearwater Revival cover
Cheers!
Excellent, thanks! I first heard CCR about 45 years ago, and still love the band. But I don't recall ever hearing this cover.
CCR is one of those (few) bands from back then who still sound fresh, relevant, and up-to-date, even in 2019.
Cheers.
I was just born 45 years ago, he,he!
I had the chance to see John Fogerty live in concert about 10 years ago and it was an amazing concert. As you say, their songs still sound fresh.
Keep on rockin'!

So, you're one of the "kids"!! I was born 60 years ago. I'm still rocking, at least a bit, and will continue to rock, even if it's gently, and even if it's in a rocking chair or a wheel chair.
You, too, keep on rockin'!
Yeah, I started to rock in the late 80s and early 90s. Since then, most of my free time has been dedicated to rock & blues, listening to music, organizing concerts or managing bands. So, rockin' til I die!
I love this post, thank you for making it! I found it useful

Congratulations @majes.tytyty!
Your post was mentioned in the Steem Hit Parade in the following category:
How about you stop this BS?
Youre making yourself into a prime target after HF21 and believe me the hammer will come down hard.

Would you please explain what you mean by "this BS"? I honestly have no idea what you are referring to.
Voting up your posts to top trending twice a day.

Hmmm, I was advised by whales and others to take advantage of SteemBot Tracker and its upvote bidding service. When we bid on those bots, the entire system benefits, in that upvotes are fully employed, instead of having some voting power go to waste.
By the way, I post an average of 6 of these music posts per week. That works out to about 1 a day, not "twice a day."
As for HF21, I'll take it as it comes. Since my Steemit strategy is primarily based on creating quality content that others might find interesting, I'm sure I'll be pleased with whatever changes come from HF21.
Those that advised you that lied to you so they benefit. The whole system loses.
You take away trending spots from organically voted content and you perpetuate the idea that its benefitial and better to delegate to bots so any kind of shit content can benefit from it.
This paints steem into a pay yourself scam investors avoid.
Your actions are detrimental to steem and its price and works to make the rich richer for being passive.
I see your point about organically voted content, but I cannot agree with your statement that whales lied to me “for their benefit.” That’s a blanket statement which clearly does not hold true for many whales who have brought much to Steemit over these past 2–3 years. To assume that they are lying for their own benefit is simply erroneous.
Getting back to the content on the trending page, a simple scroll reveals many other posts besides mine. So, anyone who has no interest in my posts can easily scroll past them and find many different posts by other Steemians.
As for using bots so that “any kind of shit content can benefit,” I definitely do not promote or condone any such content. But it’s a free platform, and anyone is allowed to post whatever kind of content they choose – be it high quality or shitty. And they may also bid for upvotes on SBT.
As for my actions being “detrimental” to Steem or Steemit, you’re being very presumptuous when you say so. In fact, there are several actions that I regularly take that clearly benefit the community. First, I upvote others’ posts, regularly and consistently, both automatically and manually. Second, I have transferred a noteworthy amount of my own crypto into Steem. Third, I have delegated a good percentage of my SteemPower, in order to help grow both Steemit and the Steemit community.
As indicated by those above 3 actions alone, I brought in much currency into Steemit, and I continue to distribute it throughout the community. I did that for the benefit of the platform and the benefit of others.
Furthermore, my other “actions” involve about 2 hours preparation time for each post. I strive to make my posts interesting and informative, as well as readable and attractively laid out. My efforts are definitely not “passive.” Nor are they intended to “make the rich richer.” That goes against my inherent politics.
If bringing such quality content to this platform is detrimental, then there’s not much hope for Steemit, is there? In fact, if that were the case, Steemit would be doomed to fail, and would already be on its way into the dustbin of history.
I’ll do what I can to prevent such failure, by continuing to create quality content.
One final point. In your “Ultimate Guide” post, you write that Steemit is “still standing and there’s money to be made.”
But then in your comment above, you advise me to “stop the BS”?
Why? I may be a “talentless twat,” but am I not allowed to make money on Steemit?
@lordbutterfly I will begin by stating that your argument above suffers from a fallacy of overgeneralization. While I agree with you that some shit posters force themselves into the trending pages using bots, I disagree that all the authors who use bots, as you clearly insinuate, post shits. @majes.tytyty is one of such exceptions. And of course, there are a few other authors who pen quality posts and only use the bots to gain more attention.
Also, do you know that the bid bot industry on Steem is a multi-million dollar industry with millions of Steem invested in SP? Have you considered the economic implications on Steem should the whole SP powering the bid bots leave the platform?
The answers to the above questions should tell you that bid bots are not entirely bad for the progress of Steem. Most people like you, I fear, are just peddlers of a single story, the story that bid bots are completely evil.
Here in fact is a screenshot from your post that has a vote from @tipu, a bid bot.
Of course, my findings reveals that it was a friend of yours who paid for the service. Does his payment make your own post a shit post? Methinks otherwise. He did that to give your post a boost.
And permit me to remind you that this platform is a free and democratic community. Therefore, no user has a right to dictate to others how they should interact with Steem as long as such interaction is endorsed by the Steem top hierarchies.
I trust that this meets you well. Cheers!e
@gandhibaba ... Thanks for your well-researched and well-reasoned reply. You pointed out certain facts that I did not know and would never have discovered.
I'm pleased that an experienced and esteemed writer / Steemian such as you has come to my "defence" here.
To paraphrase the original comment, I guess this has come to the point where we can now "stop this BS." ☺
Cheers, and thanks again
p.s. I sent the "upvote" to your wallet.
Ill just say "lol" at the 50 cent tip someone left on my post. 😂
