To a certain point you're right. When a venue hires you, they do it for a reason. They like your music,or they know you bring a big crowd yourself ;) ... but one time we were booked by a venue and after the booking they came with music which we had to play. We never played it before and it wasnt our kind of music,so we thanked them but left 😂

That is true - the contract, written or verbal should clearly convey what the venue expects. Then, you deliver :-)
