He was a very famous singer in the 70's-80's, from his little Estonia rattled all over the USSR, without getting out of the TV. Very musically gifted person, and sometimes he performed instrumental parts on the records of his own songs — preserved records of his performance on the piano, flute, guitar, drums. He started as a bass player in famous Estonian rock bands. Since 1988 Jaak left the Soviet scene, and in the mid-1990s almost stopped concert performances. After leaving the stage, he taught guitar at the Tallinn music school. He died of heart disease in 2014.
One of the most striking songs (in my opinion – the most!)- this, of course, "Lavender" - one of the best Soviet songs of the late 20 th century. It sounded in the" Blue light " of 1985. The author of the song, the composer Vladimir matetsky, told that the editorial staff of CT ordered him a song for performance by Yak Yola and Sofiya Rotaru. Matetsky immediately wrote exemplary words and music and asked to write the final text to his constant co – author Igor Shaferan – but he said that the words smell of cheap perfume... then matetsky called another poet-Mikhail Shabrov, and he immediately took. However, his words did not fit into the size and Matetsky had to change the melody of the verse.
In the end, matetsky, Shabrov, Yola and Rotar gave us candy-definitely.
