If we note, the record label Hopeless Records is consistent in presenting new names for pop punk / pop rock lovers. Names like All Time Low, We Are The In Crowd, to The Dangerous Summer are testament to the foresight as well as the brilliant intuition of their talent scout team. Rather than continue to bloom the band's popularity on their roster, Hopeless opts to continue searching for new talents which they then push up to reach the level of popularity they expect. Proven by their decision to recruit With Confidence into their roster order.
With Confidence playing a thick pop punk with pop nuance, this quartet comes from Australia. Their first EP was released in 2013 and is fairly successful in Australia. It was also the end that led them to open concerts from Tonight Alive, Kids In Glass Houses, to Mariana's Trench. Quite successful in the local Australian scene, in early 2016 they announced that they had joined Hopeless Records and would be releasing their debut with the title Better Weather.
Tracklist: 1. Voldemort 2. Keeper 3. Archers 4. We'll Be Okay 5. Gravity 6. Keys 7. Long Night 8. Dinner Bell 9. Higher 10. Waterfall
I really like their decision, I think personally band with music as With Confidence is destined to be part of Hopeless Records. This band has a character that represents Hopeless Records in the periods before 2010. Another added value is a very marketable Confidence which would be beneficial for both parties.
Listening to their debut, we will be taken to feel a pop rock music filled with anesthetized hook. This album reminds us of the period 2006-2009, the period when bands like Boys Like Girls and All Time Low reached the news level of the media is amazing. Their success may be said to bring about a change in the overall pop punk landscape, before the trend finally shifts. The first impression of Better Weather is that the album is full of summer hours, the one you'll love on the first listen.
Ambition With Confidence in making a breakthrough in the global scena we will immediately feel through the opening track "Voldemort" the upbeat, catchy, and easy listening. This song is the right choice because it has the intensity and fulfill their need to be immediately noticed. With Confidence also impressed not to hesitate to put their best material at the beginning of the album, the songs "Keeper" and "Archers" complete the breakthrough that they make as well become a very interesting prefix. Better Weather albums not only serve as their introductions or cosmetics that make them sound interesting.
This album, if examined further, has more meaning than that, Better Weather has shown how far their potential to grow and so far, their potential looks very promising. They know how to make music that can attract mainstream listeners and that's where the main value of this album, mainstream appeal.
This album as previously thought, has enough influence from All Time Low even Kings of Leon. If we listen to the song "Archers", we will immediately be able to imagine this song being sung by Alex Gaskarth himself. On several occasions, we can also listen to Martin Johnson's singing style in Jayden Seeley's voice.
The voice of Jayden Seeley, though not having much room for expression, was successful enough to impress us. Tones released from Jayden Seeley's vocal cords are perfect when juxtaposed with the music With Confidence plays. Jayden's raspy voice gives them depth, catching emotions with occasional accompanied by bluff or falsetto. This ultimately makes comparisons with AJ Perdomo to be inevitable.
Other instruments in this album are also worthy of appreciation. Drummer Joshua Brozzesi quite shine on this album, sounds confident with some consistent stuffing. The move by Joshua Brozzesi sounds subtle and fairly constant, providing an interesting dynamic for the matter With Confidence. Guitar Luke Rockets and Inigo Del Carmen are also highlights, some of the stuff that Luke gives makes the song very catchy and more dynamic. Sound bass from Jayden sounded punchy and complete this album well, though it must be acknowledged in some parts of Jayden like trying too hard to sound technical.
The best song from this album is "Keeper". Just one reason why this song may be spelled as the best song, this song has hooks are memorable and anthemic. Even so, the song with the most interesting structure just deserve to be pinned to the "Keys". This song is the most challenging song for them and able to show the potential of Inigo and Jayden as co-vocals and it works. This song opens up the possibility for them to make more use of the future of Jayden and Inigo. It's just that there's one thing I have to say here.
The song "Long Night" may be a favorite for those of you who love a semi punk pop punk song, but this song really destroys the momentum being built in the previous section. So it feels a bit futile, although they try to bridge this song with the sound of someone who step out of the room and sit in a chair but I do not think that visualization much help. I admit that this is very subjective and may have different effects for others.
Although their potential as a songwriter can not be doubted. I actually feel they are still a little groping to find their character. In one song they're like imitating Katy Perry, in another song we'll find Nick Santino as if he's writing a song for them. Well maybe they're stuck in a mistake rookie, it's only natural that they want to sound like their idol. Another thing that should be mentioned is that they are still often trapped in formulative material that is fortunately still inexcusable.
Finally, the album is fun, a catchy pop rock album and bringing nostalgia from the mid-2000s to your room. Better Weather is a very solid debut for the band that might soon become the most talked about band in the future. Get on board, folks before it's too late.
