Auction Finds - Vinyl Weird & Wonderful!!! Episode 3 of Many!!!

in #music7 years ago

I've been VERY busy for a while listing heaps and heaps and heaps of vinyl lps. Lps have been gaining in popularity over the last ten years, and I think their popularity might now be reaching fever pitch, if the bidding wars I've been experiencing on my online auction site are anything to go by. The thing about music is that there is something for everyone, and while many of the lps I will be sharing are most definitely not to my taste, they are well loved by someone. I am basically going to share a random selection of 5 an episode, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.

(Instead of the very well known Knights in White Satin.) And a very good question!

I struggled a little to find one of the songs performed by the original artist on this album to share. His notable songs include The Letter and Always On My Mind.

Somehow this track jumped into my attention. When I was young I thought my mom was so uncool for loving ABBA. The Rolling Stones my dad listened to were much cooler....but now, well, ABBA deserves their place in history and their music makes me feel SO nostalgic for my childhood! I just heard they have got together and are creating new music and I can't wait to hear it.

The Bee Gees will never be forgotten. (Sorry for the cheese, not.)

Disco coolness!!!

Music has the power to transport us to very specific moments in our lives. We all have songs we are desperately searching for, and those we wish would never be played again, ever. I watch customers in the shop, and see the joy on their faces when they find an obscure cd or lp, and it makes me feel fantastic. My own music tastes tend to be indie/alternative, and discovering new music is a passion. I am that crazy middle aged woman, blasting whatever the flavour of the moment is in my car!

I love the music from the 70's. It's what my parents listened to when I was growing up too!

Oh! What a sound from the Bee Gees! That's such a long. long time ago... don't forget to remember me... How nice! These records are still playable!?
And ABBA too! I heard these from radio as a kid! Never had these records, But I got a friend who collected all these oldies!
There is a radio station here with a DJ now in his seventies, he played all these old songs around 10pm to midnight. He got quite a fan club.
I haven't listened to him for several months now, I must check on him tonight!

Cheers.

All the records are playable, and are selling well. I just got in another almost 300 lps. Yesterday was a public holiday at the shop , but I went in alone to catch up on all the work so I can list more!!! I think this series is going to be looooong!!!

WoW! This is amazing! Your ears will need to be on a quiet holiday soon!
Good news that they are doing very well and people don' mind these old records.
I think you have about all the LPs in South Africa!

I wish I did!!!

I didn't know of Wayne Carson, and I hadn't heard the Abba or Donna Summers songs before. But the other two are old favourites from way back. Cheese, indeed!

Hahahaha, YES! :D
