This is a weird instrument you've probably never seen, but have almost definitely heard before. If you've seen a horror movie or a science fiction in the last fifty years you must have heard it.
The Waterphone
This instrument was invented by Richard Waters in 1969 and is called a waterphone. It's often used in horror movies to create creepy sounds.
It consists of a stainless steel resonator bowl with a cylindrical neck and bronze rods of different lenghts and diameters around the rim of the bowl.
The waterphone has been used for creepy soundtracks in many movies, including The Matrix, Poltergeist and Star Trek.
Great for Halloween... Use it in the middle of the night to scare your entire neighborhood. ツ
