We have been developing a music distribution service on our new platform, should we offer a subscription based or pay per song service?
We have been working on this project and we close to completing the backend. Should we offer an unlimited streaming service? Or pay per song or album.
If we offer an unlimited streaming subscription users will pay a monthly of yearly fee to access the service, we are thinking something like $7.99 a month. On each artist page, album, and track will be a Steemit upvote button connected to their Steemit accounts. So they get tips with upvotes, fans can also fund the artists future projects via crowdfunding. In which the artist can offer them an incentive like a gift card to purchase merchandise from the artist store, like a t-shirt or hat.
Pay per song or album will offer the same exact features except there is no monthly fee, and users can only purchase specific songs they want. Upvotes and crowdfunding will also be present in this model as well.
Which would you prefer?
probably offer free streaming for about 5 plays then require them to purchase the song? So people can explore the music. there is a certain number of plays in which a song gets stuck in someones head- idk what that number is but its the same concept radio uses to charge for airtime
If we do a subscription service we were thinking free 30 day trial. But if we go pay per song or album then the artist will have control of that offering free songs.
