Silk (Acoustic Guitar)
Verse 1

As you stand among the waves,
There's a tower in the skyline,
And you watch it all ablaze,
Feel a cold beneath the soft tide.
Pre-Chorus

Painted glass and paper vows,
Golden chains that felt like crowns,
I let them slip, I let them drown,
And I am lighter now, I am lighter now,
I am lighter now.
Chorus

I was spun like silk in the hands of thieves,
Tied in a pattern I couldn’t see,
But the fire came and kissed away my fraying seams,
And now I’m drifting, and now I’m free,
And I am lighter now, I am lighter now,
I am lighter now, I am lighter now,
I am lighter now, I am lighter now.
Bridge

Watch me carve my name in stone,
Not in mirrors, not in bone,
Breaking oaths that weren’t my own,
See the pain and call it home.

Take your statue, take your throne,
Take the weight I used to hold,
I let it go, I let it down,
And I am lighter now, I am lighter now,
I am lighter now.
Chorus (Repeat)

I was spun like silk in the hands of thieves,
Tied in a pattern I couldn’t see,
But the fire came and kissed away my fraying seams,
And now I’m drifting, and now I’m free,
And I am lighter now, I am lighter now,
I am lighter now, I am lighter now,
I am lighter now, I am lighter now.

"Silk" is a song about release—about stripping away everything that was never really mine to hold. It’s about burning down the false narratives, breaking old agreements, and finally stepping into my own skin without apology. I wanted the lyrics to feel poetic and full of metaphor, something that unravels in layers the more you listen, like a quiet rebellion wrapped in something delicate.

I recorded this at home, just me and my mahogany D-35 Martin, letting the rawness of the acoustic carry the weight of the song. The vocals are layered, almost like echoes in an empty cathedral, mixed with a reverby surround effect that makes the song feel vast—like standing in the middle of something collapsing and realizing you’re free. It’s simple, but intentionally so. No overproduction, no distractions. Just the sound of letting go, the sound of becoming weightless.

beautiful song Bonnie, really enjoyed it.
