@detlev kicked off this theme and it's become a fairly popular one amongst lovers of rock on Steemit. Just write about three songs (or more) that you like.
This week I'm featuring guitar legend Steve Vai.
David Lee Roth - Yankee Rose
This may have been when I first became aware of Steve. The talking guitar intro really stood out. Diamond Dave can be over the top, but I enjoyed some of his solo work. I will admit to not knowing much Van Halen outside the big singles. That's something I need to explore.
Steve Vai - The Audience is Listening
This is a bit of a novelty song from his breakthrough album Passion and Warfare, but it makes me smile.
Vai - Dirty Black Hole
This was his fairly brief attempt at putting together a band. Of course he works with other people, but those keep changing. This is notable for an early appearance by Devin Townsend who just has an epic voice. I think they just did the one album, but it's all up there on Steve's channel.
Rock on!
I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist.

Vais a legend. Went to g3 a few years back. Brilliant concert!
I saw him on the Fire Garden tour. It's been a while.
Hopefully one day I can see him live again!
I liked Steve Vai as the devil's guitar player, Jack Butler, in Crossroads.
I've seen that clip, but never seen the whole movie. I really should
Check it out. It's a fun movie.
An amazing musician. The Audience Is Listening is fun. My favourite is For The Love Of God.
:-)
Vai is superb, his knowledge of theory and classical music and than putting it in his own music... Great class.... The latest albums though where a bit to experimental for me.. Passion and warfare still my favorite,..
sweet. remember that album "flexible"- not the music, but the album cover. we had some weird stuff back in the
day. Vai is amazing - is he still kicking ? [j-c , am I ?]
dang. might just drink to that. dog hair requiring attendance.
He's still playing at 58, but I've not kept up with the latest stuff. He is a real master of the guitar
for sure. he is one of those god-level dudes, no weaknesses in his game whatsoever. was he always strictly solo , or did he play in one of those glam hair bands like whitesnake ? for some reason I thought he was a bit older than that.
saw a fairly recent video of eddie van halen looking like a happy old robotic gnome but still absolutely shredding it on guitar- pretty amazing stuff.
He played with Frank Zappa early on then Alcatraz, Whitesnake and PIL as well as DLR. He started pretty young
I liked Van Halen when I was a young girl and to hear something of David Lee Roth reminds me that time (ehm, many years ago ^_^.). I read Steve Vai was also with the Whitesnake, great!
I think he toured with them for a while. He did session work for various bands before his solo career really took off. He can still play to massive crowds, but many people haven't heard of him.
You really do need to listen to some more Van Halen. They had some really great songs besides the ones you still hear on the radio. I prefer the Hagar stuff over the Roth years, but they both had a lot of good songs.
woah ! i didn't know there were songs and metal music like these
well metal music dosen't suite me well hehe
We each have our own tastes, but nobody can keep up with all the music out there. I don't expect everyone to like this.

Metal music is beautiful. God work friend.
(careless whispers from the numb mummy)
ha-ha, you know who won in the "wolfman versus frankenstein versus dracula versus the mummy" craptastic 70s low budget monstrosity...?
...the wolfman - he kicked all their asses.
