Hello again everyone !!!
Before I start talking about todays topic , I wanted to thank everyone who supported my previous post on part one, also special thank you to @giantbear. I didn't think I'd get such a positive response ! On to todays topic ...
DJ-ing and also how its different from producing .
First off , the main difference between a DJ and producer is , A DJ only plays music and a producer makes music.
This is a producer
This is a DJ
What a DJ does.
A DJs (Disk Jockys) Job is to choose music he likes , or depending on the venue and the people he plays to , choose music he likes from a specific genre . So for example , a DJ is asked to play at a trance party , he will then prepare a Psy Trance and minimal track list , because that best fits what the people at the venue will be expecting and want to dance to . After having the correct tracks , the DJ then uses whats called a DJ controller AKA the DJ decks to mix the songs he has chosen together to make whats called a mix , these usually last for about 1-2 hours a set (fun fact , the Guinness world record for the longest set done is by DJ Obi completed qt 240-hours).

Life as a DJ.
Being that my dream is to make music , travel the world , and DJ (play my music) for a living, the Life of a DJ is really exciting and active , never a dull moment !!! As I said , it involves traveling and allot of it , depending on how well known you are and what support you have in the music industry , A DJ could do 10 shows in a months between 5 different countries ! Being a DJ is like being a rock star in the 80s. Take one of the most innovative and well known Produces/DJ in the world , Sonny Moore AKA Skrillex. In a year of doing shows and being asked to DJ at venues and doing is own shows and tours , He makes an average of 22 million dollars , playing his own music might I add .
Not all fun and games.
Its true that it can be fun and exciting to be DJ , all in all , its still a profession . There are allot of people that think a DJ just drinks and plays music , and unfortunately , there allot of those types of so called DJs out there , they aren't DJs in my opinion (but I'm not saying you can't have one or 2 beers during a 2 hour set, just don't get motherless drunk while your busy with a set ). You need to be sharp mined and focused when doing your job. Just because you work in a coffee shop doesn't mean you can sit around like a costumer , but that also doesn't mean you don't get free coffee. Same goes to being a professional DJ , you are there to play music and entertain others , the costumer comes first if you will. There are contracts to sign and deals to be made , venues to secure you make an income . Allot of planning and hard work !
PROS and CONS of being a DJ.
Some of the pros of being a DJ are , traveling the world ,meeting new people , experiencing other cultures , loving your job , never being board ,lots of high rated hotel rooms, having fun, also most of the cons below are temporary .
Some of the cons of being a DJ are , little sleep , exhaustion , little family time , very late nights , dealing with overly drunk people and getting irritated very easily while planning things .
But hay , tell , me about a job where you don't have to sacrifice something , at least let it be for a job you'll love.
End of part two :)
