the kanun is the mother of the cembalo (klavecimble)...
one of the reasons because of the pick that ring tha notes and the number of the strings
the kanun instrument have 78 strings witch all three strings are one note and it have 26 notes each note have 12 komas that you can change it from the orabs (the metal in the lift side).

Nice article and beautiful photographs. I gave a lecture about the history of the piano a long time ago (indeed some decades).
