ALAN HOLDSWORTH

Alan was widely regarded as the great fusion guitarist of all time.
That's so much to claim, but Alan was so much forward looking.

Alan learned from his father, so he was a traditional musician in the old school.
He understood his musical roots first, and he was a technician last. He actually learned to play
sax first, and he decided on guitar because it was less expensive.

I like one of the comments on YT:
"he's up there with beethoven, debussy, charlie parker" and I would have to agree completely.

I used to get out and see all my favorite musicians and tell them how much I enjoyed seeing them play live. I saw Alan perform many times in Santa Cruz (Kuumbwa Jazz), and he knew me by name ;=)

I wanna hear more of his music. Keep on sharing the wonderful stuff here.

I loved the Sixteen Men of Tain by Holdworth.
Has to be up there in my all time favourites.
Goes without saying that he's been of the top guitarist we ever seen.

Good history, thanks for sharing an interesting post
