Larry Graham INVENTED modern bass playing in many ways.
One of Prince's greatest mentors, Prince listened to Larry when almost nobody else could get through to him...
While there are greater bassists, there are no greater Funk players that influenced all who came after.
Talk to Marcus Miller, Jim Simmons, lot's of great players, they will tell you the same.
Here is a 6 minute Bass Lesson taught by Larry himself, where he goes over all the roles he was trying to cover, and how he went about covering when the drummer was absent, etc.
Right hand technique and working with the Back Beat, it's all here.
Larry Graham, the great spiritual mentor, bass player, band leader, and positive guy all around.
He is impressive!! Are you a bassist as well?
YES I AM!
I live for a great groove and some TIGHT funk bass playing.
Awesome!!! I used to play guitars at a time!! Not bass though. Reminded me of my music days !!

Larry man Larry man, that what a next level bass guitar player. He could have the strings give him whatever he wants. My junior bro is sure gonna like to hear this.
Larrrryyy. The dude can't even talk with out being funky. My main man. Oh by the way did you see his fingers. There like hooks.
I WISH I had thumbs like his...
Hahah Absolutley I agree @surfyogi

@surfyogi really impressed with your blog sir but it had been quite a while before you wrote your last post..... But really after seeing this and the way you expressed this article was dam great sir keep it up I take you as motivation!!
I like this music.. thanks for sharing this post. I appreciate your history.. best of luck my dear..
I think finding authentic music today has become harder than ever, I mean, most of the music I hear feel totally generic. Songs like the ones from Bob Marley or Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwoʻole (the fat guy from Hawaii) or Ludovico Einaudi are non existing now.
Thanks for sharing this video, I will be checking youtube for more of his content, most of the music today is generated in a totally electronic way, so it is nice to hear "authentic" music from time to time.
Cheers
I like my favorite. This man is really crazy. Thanks for sharing @surfyogi
Larry Graham, Bass Solo, Brooklyn, NY 6-7-12
he is fantastic with his guiter! very much impressive!
He is too much impressive ......Larry Graham.....lots of enjoying with his guitar.. . I like it so much....thanks for sharing...
I grew up with my uncle being on a band and I always hear them praising their bassist. There was a time when I asked why, being a bassist in a band is crucial. If your bassist is good, your band is damn good.
I love the way how in between songs he goes right back into that same blues groove as he tells his story. Slap (something that I enjoy practicing but rarely use in a live performance) now makes a whole lot more sense to me. My instructors growing up (traditional I-M alternating technique players) were never fans and refused to teach it, seeing it as flash. But the way that Graham came about it due to practical necessity is rather cool. In fact, everything about the way he carries himself is rather cool.
I like 👍, you are playing bass guitar too?if you are playing, make some video, i really want to see😊

One of the coolest band in the world! "Sly and the Family Stone" is one of my favorite. Most of all, Graham's playing was perfectly creative!
