I am working on an album!
An album with a difference, as it will be part of a larger collaborative project woven into a story. I'm inviting writers and visual artists to join me in creating a multidisciplinary body of work, blending music, narrative, and visual art.
Here's the basic premise for the story:
An android awakens in the wreckage of a crashed spacecraft on a desolate, alien planet. Severely damaged and with only a fraction of its former capabilities, it struggles to regain functionality. Initially disoriented it sets out, driven by an innate curiosity and the desire to understand its environment—and itself.
That's just the starting point - I should have a prologue for the narrative to share very soon.
If this piques your curiosity or you are interested in collaborating as a writer or visual artist within the universe of this story please do get in touch.
Here's some specific ways you can get involved:
- Come to my Creative Writing Stream this coming Monday on Twitch at 9pm BST / 10pm CEST / 4pm EDT / 1pm PDT where I will be previewing the album and encouraging viewers to do some creative writing whilst the stream takes place!
- Later I will also have a Visual Arts stream where we all have a go at creating something visual, inspired by or relating to the story.
- Send in ideas for characters, settings, plots - anything you want to see! (any contribution however small will be credited to you when the project is published)
- Write whole short stories or chapters if you you like!
- Create illustrations, animations or video - using the story and it's theme as inspiration.
- ANYTHING else that's creative that you feel has some link to the premise of this story!
One obvious question is: How will I/we make sure things are consistent between different creators? The answer is - we won't worry too much about this. If you follow along with the project, streams and works as they are created you'll have a greater chance of being more "in tune" with things - but this project is a big experiment in collaboration and not every part of the creation needs to align with every other one. I think it's ok - in fact I think it's wonderful if it's allowed to be 'messy'. Let's see what happens!
Finally - watch this space for MORE ways ANYONE can contribute and be part of the journey - voting for names of characters, tracks, the album itself are all in the plan. And feedback on track order, and the music itself are super welcome!
For now I'm only previewing the music on my Twitch stream and will make private WIP previews of the audio available to those who get in contact with me wanting to write/create. But when things are slightly farther along I will publish more public previews of at least some of it. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A NORMAL ALBUM LAUNCH!
A note about copyright and ownership. You, of course own anything you create. If you would like me to include your work alongside the album where it appears (I'm hoping to make it a dedicated website or subsection on my website but this might also include social media and in Twitch streams) then you'll need to grant me permission to do so (with a credit/link to your work wherever possible). I think that's the simplest/fairest arrangement but this is an experiment - if anyone knows better and has a suggestion I'm all ears.

Haha, maybe it is. I am also living right now on a planet, a bit away from the hive planet though but hopefully will land here back fully one day 🚀
TDCtunes can also create wonderful stories, but perhaps a can help with that.
