Hey great post James -
I've been thinking about Live gigs vs Streaming a lot too (I'm a live improviser rather than a DJ but there is definitely some overlap) and I hear all your points.
I especially enjoyed:
you need to do it WHILST SURFING ON TOP OF A GIANT CATS HEAD WHICH HAS LASERS FOR EYES, WHILST YOU FLY THROUGH SPACE
and also that whole section on problems with internet when streaming! There are still of course potential other technical issues playing live - but less so.
I would also add that the interactivity with the audience from streaming is a positive too (for me anyway)- it's great when I get people genuinely into what I'm doing who ask an serious question about it and I can answer it live on the stream.
The other positive I'd add for live streaming (for me) is gear - I can have exactly the setup I want with no consideration for having to lug stuff around or having to set things up super fast.
That being said - live atmosphere - I think that's something unique and wonderful which is why I think ideally I'll always prefer a mix of both live gigs and streaming.
Keep up the great work James - I've caught a few of your streams but hope at some point to see you live in person!

Thankyou! Yeah, i do love the interaction with people, any maybe i should ammend my post slightly about that... however, I still interact with my crowd when stood in the DJ booth. I mentioned in my previous blog that I have shamelessly ripped off.. I mean channel, Fatboy Slim in my performances and that still gives me the interaction I sought after. I can only really see glipses of the chat because I am predominantly concentrating on the decks when I am livestreaming - finding tunes, mixing, moderating the chat, redeeming rewards etc :)
