I have a 20 minute drive to the office daily and usually listen to music mixed on a USB drive. I decided to share this mornings drives music with all you music lovers out there. There were only four songs and they were a rather eclectic mix.
The first tune was halfway through from my drive home last night ..
Dreamer - The Tallest Man on Earth
I'm just a dreamer but I'm hanging on
Though I am nothing big to offer
I watch the birds, how they dive in then gone
It's like nothing in this world's ever still
And I'm just a shadow of your thoughts in me
But sun is setting, shadows growing
A long cast figure will turn into night
It's like nothing in this world ever sleeps
lyrics
Next up was that amazing guitarist Robin Trower ....
Bridge of Sighs - Robin Trower
The sun don't shine
The moon don't move the tides
To wash me clean
Sun don't shine
The moon don't move the tides
To wash me clean
Why so unforgiving and why so cold?
Been a long time crossing bridge of sighs
Cold wind blows
The Gods look down in anger
On this poor child
Lyrics
Did you appreciate that guitar, did you crank up the volume?.... he had a style of his own..love it!!
Another shift in pace as Tom Waits chimed in
I hope that I don't fall in Love with you - Tom Waits
Well, I hope that I don't fall in love with you
Cause falling in love just makes me blue
Well, the music plays and you display your heart for me to see
I had a beer and now I hear you calling out for me
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you
Well, the room is crowded, people everywhere
And I wonder, should I offer you a chair?
Well, if you sit down with this old clown, I'll take that frown and break it
Before the evening's gone away, I think that we can make it
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you
Well, the night does funny things inside a man
These old tomcat feelings you don't understand
Well, I turn around to look at you, you light a cigarette
I wish I had the guts to bum one, but we've never met
And I hope that I don't fall in love with you
Lyrics
And the last track was halfway through as I pulled into my parking bay ... in a good mood having listened to some of my favorite music.
Mack the Knife - Bobby Darin
Oh the shark, babe
Has such teeth, dear
And he shows them
Pearly white
Just a jackknife
Has old Macheath, babe
And he keeps it
Out of sight
You know when that shark bites
With his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows
Start to spread
Fancy gloves, though
Wears ol' Macheath, babe
So there's never, never a trace of red
Now, on the side walk, ooh Sunday morning, uh huh
Lies a body just oozing life. EEK!
And someone's sneaking round the corner
Could that someone be Mack the Knife?
Lyrics
For the record (pun intended) I make my compilations from music CD's I have purchased. I do NOT believe in music or book piracy.
Thanks for listening and reading .... as always, keep on Steemin ...
Tallest man on earth is one of my favorite artists!
well that deserves a 100% upvote... a man of taste :) ...thanks for reading and listening. Did you enjoy any of the others?
Huge tom waits fan as well. I'm not familiar with robin trower but I liked it. I'm gonna have to check out some more!
He was not mainstream...sort of on the fringes. In fact I did not like a lot of his stuff and at the time always hoped he would hook up with a decent songwriter...lol. But he sure could play guitar in his own inimicable style.
Great post, and music.. Every single song, but especially Dreamer! Thanks for sharing! Upvoted!
Thank you kindly and I a impressed you enjoyed Dreamer. Tallest Man on Earth is not every one's cup of tea. yet I love his music. When I first heard him I thought "Oh no, a hill billy Bob Dylan"...{grin}..but he grows on one
True, not for everybody, but when I hear a song I like it or not, no matter the performer.. He has something in his songs that pulls me in..
Once again, thanks for sharing!
My pleasure, the real thanks is for you reading and listening. I decided to follow you and keep track of happenings in Serbia and your life lessons {smile}
That's very nice of you!
Followed you back (of course)!
See you around the block (chain) :)
LOL... no need to be crypt(o)ic here {grin}
I like your music choice, Mack the knife brought back some memories :)
Been done by many artists including the legendary Frank Sinatra ... but for me Bobby Darin nailed it !!!
