Fresh off the Profound Lore label, it's the newest album from Australian death metal wizards Portal. For years, this band has been notorious for creating some of the most intense listening experiences in the genre. The murky, tortured, dizzying vibe of records like Outre and Swarth put 'em on the map, and now it seems like they're changing gears a bit with this latest release, ION.
This is still a death metal album through and through, but Portal is clearing out some of the muck that caked their previous recordings, and letting the winding guitar work shine bright on this incredibly raw recording. The vocals and drums are more intense than ever, enhancing these chaotic compositions with loads of propulsive and demonic energy.
This album is really a shock to the system, and might be one of Portal's hellish yet! Give a shot via the link below:
You know, Death Metal drummers have to be the most physically fit musicians in the metal universe. That syncopated rhythm has to be a killer. Listened some most of the album on their site, most of it was pretty heavy. There was some interesting guitar work that was kind of hidden in some of songs that was over powered by the emphasis put on the punishing drum beat. I will say, my favorite selection was Olde Guarde. For me, their best song on the album.
Sick, putting this on the list. I was just revisiting that 2017 Primitive Man record the other day, crazy how much room there still is to grow in the metal genre.
looks brutal
oh, it friggin is!
Looks great like that @maanabdullah (Website Designer, Crypto Guru , Marketer)
Oh shit this is sick! I love chaotic metal. I always forget Sumac released an album on profound lore. https://sumac.bandcamp.com/album/the-deal
