Silver Jubilee for Rock Classics
Hey Rockers of Steemit - I have not posted to my Rock Classics series for almost two weeks. Shame on me - why is that?

Today we celebrate edition 25 - silver jubilee - with a band from the UK I met first in the early 1980ies - not sure the young ones here know them - you might at least have heard about Sting who used to be lead singer and started an impressive solo career after the band split. Hence you will also listen to a bit from his solo paths.
Who is The Police?
The Police was formed in London 1977 and are considered as new wave band - to me that is simply awesome rock influenced by other styles. Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland were the key members until they split in 1986 - reunited in 2007 during the Grammy Awards but stopped officially in 2008. The most successful period was during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band had major influence on the music industry playing rock in new wave style combining elements from various genres such as Jazz, Punk, Reggae and Ska.
The front personality Sting became one of the world's best-selling music artists based on the success of the band and is ranked amongst the top 100 best living songwriters. During his solo career he worked a lot with other known music acts such as Bryan Adams, Rod Steward, Dire Straits or Craig David.

So nach ein bisserl Pause - ich wollte Euch nicht mit zu viel alten Sachen aus der Rock Classics Ecke nerven - kommt nun Ausgabe 25 mit The Police - wie viele meiner Top Rock Acts durfte ich die Band in den früher 80iger Jahren entdecken - da wr hier viele ganz junge Menschen auf Steemit haben wird nicht jeder die Band kennen, maximal noch Sting, den Lead Sänger. Schaut Euch mal durch ob die Musik was für Euch ist und schreibt mir gerne Kommentare dazu - @rivalzzz - von Dir erwarte ich natürlich etwas Spezielles dazu 🎸!
Wer sind die Polizisten nur?
The Police wurde 1977 in England gegründet und galten als New-Wave-Band - für mich ist das Rock mit eingängigen Melodien und nem fantastischen Bass (das war auch Sting an dem Instrument) und haben die Musikszene bis Mitte der 1980er entscheidend beeinflusst. Neben New Wave, Rock und Punk verarbeitete die Truppe Elemente aus Reggae, Punk, Ska und später auch Jazz - insbesondere Sting später als Solo Künstler noch weit mehr. 1986 war die Luft raus und die Bandmitglieder konzentrierten sich auf Solo Projekte. Im Jahr 2007 gab es ne Re-Union anlässlich der Grammy Awards mit einigen Konzerten danach, allerdings keinen neuen Aufnahmen, 2008 war dann endgültig Schluss.

Brilliant stuff. Thanks for posting.
It's great to see somebody talking about a band that I loved all those years ago. They were pretty special and IMO produced varied music for most peoples taste. I always enjoyed the creative tension between Stuart and Sting. The could be hilariously childish.
A couple of other tracks to mention are:
Roxanne, So Lonely, Can't Stand Losing You, Walking on the Moon and my favourite track, Don't Stand So Close To Me, with it's brilliant intro.
You are correct that Sting has gone on to sell millions of records and have huge success on his own. Englishman In New York and Fields of Gold are my choices but there are quite a few.

Früher mochte ich die nicht hören, da griff ich dann lieber zu Clash, wenn es softer sein sollte. Aber heute gefallen mir Police im nachhinein doch ganz gut.
I love Sting and I also love the way him and his wife enjoys a simple life! he can sing me to sleep anyday.

Some personalities just cannot get along...like Van Halen/Roth...even for big bucks. Its crazy.
Sting hat mir auch als Schauspieler in "Der Wüstenplanet" gut gefallen. ;-)
