Truly an album for this moment, this time. A brilliant melding of zeitgeist-level-frustration and musical genius. A wildly unique, intelligent, high-energy fusion of electronic, urban, and indie styles. Wav-Legion’s latest album, Sign Wav, is not only musically explosive, it also offers strong substantive opinions and perspectives on sexuality, politics, society, love, and lord knows what else. There are stories here that are worth exploring—particularly when contrasted with the unthoughtful, generic sonic manipulations typically found in modern pop music. To be blunt, this album has balls. Big ones.
From a strictly musical and production standpoint, wav-dr. has a vast and explorative mind, arguably visionary in his ability to combine particular acoustic and electronic elements as well as seemingly contrasting mood textures. Bonnie Legion’s vocal timbre is some powerful and iconic-sounding concoction of Alanis Morissette, Adele, and Lana Del Rey. (And I’m quite certain that I’m missing someone.) She’s confident, articulate, and clearly no one with which to be messed. The combination of the Dr.’s production and compositional-aptitude, and Legion’s delivery, work in a deeply engaging manner that not only appeals to the rhythm-junkie in our mind, but the intellect as well. This is an amazing album.

Bonnie Legion & wav-Dr. offer a wild trip into a countless array of styles on the sprawling “Wav-Legion Sign Wav”. Everything comes into the fray – trip-hop, industrial, hard rock, funk, they do it all and do it justice. Layer upon layer filters into the mix ensuring that the album has an immersive quality to it. Right at the center of all of these cross-hybrid approach comes the powerful lyricism. Done with a stream of consciousness poetry, they explore concepts of relationships, the bonds, the breaks, and everything that defines what a connection means.
“Isolate” sets the tone for what follows: featuring their fiery vocals delivery so much passion. A raw grit runs through the physicality of “Bond”. Sly grooves emerge out of the funky “Good Man Bad Man”. Here they incorporate just the right degree of swagger. Akin to a half-remembered dream the surreal “No Time Like the Present” has a hazy, dazed quality to it even as the tempo pushes things into a breakneck pace. On “Sparkle” things get stripped down to the essentials as the insistent beats merge with the delicate guitar work. Going for a psychedelic spirit “Rare Thing” incorporates layer upon layer into the mix. Impressive riffing races through the poignant “Small Town Breakout”. Distorted guitars give the closer “Sign Wav” a delightful sense of play and confidence.
“Wav-Legion Sign Wav” shows off Bonnie Legion & wav-Dr.’s impressive skill in sculpting a world that feels entirety their own.

If you take the time to listen to this record from back to front, you are definitely going to be able to pinpoint such a fantastically diverse range of musical influences from these talented performers. From Coldplay to Nirvana, Lady Gaga, Pink Floyd, and even Eminem and Lana Del Rey, these talented performers have developed a really strong musical vocabulary, and they have become really fluent in their own form of musical language! The pair’s most recent studio effort is an album titled “Wav-Legion Millionaire.” This release features 15 tracks, each blurring the lines between the different styles and different creative ideas stretching the concepts of this record two new astonishing heights.

"Comprised of 13 distinct tracks, Wav-Legion offers an eclectic mix of electronic music fused with a variety of musical elements from other genres. The songs often feature a subtly dark electronic backing, though the actual beat style varies widely from song to song. To give you an example of the kind of fusion we see here, the track heavyweight combines a Terminator style retro electro synthbeat with groovy twists, excellent lounge-like female vocals with accents of trip hop and pop. It’s also a duet where the Wav-Dr has vocal parts as well, delivered in a casual yet effectively hypnotic demeanor. This is a true experimental album. People without appreciation for the avant garde will not know what to make of it. That’s okay, the talent and quality of display here make this music appealing to almost anyone, even if the listeners don’t take full advantage of the deeper meditative forces at work here."

"Wav-Legion is a collaborative album made by independent artists Wav-Dr. and Shavon Bonnie Legion, which is, among other things, showing the world how powerful underground musicians can be when working together. Wav-Dr. is a Canadian musician, songwriter, and producer and Shavon Bonnie Legion is a singer/songwriter from California. The pair connected on the Blockchain music site Choon and made this record in only seven weeks, which is a pretty brisk pace for new partners. Nevertheless, they crafted 13 original songs that exist in a fusion of Electronic, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, and other styles that are all mentally and musically stimulating. The sound is lush, unique, and thought-provoking, with a hypnotic, cinematic vibe that immediately gets attention. "

We have been completely blown away by the latest collaborative project from wav-Dr and Bonnie Legion. ‘Wav-Legion ll’ is awe-inspiring and a thoroughly innovative listen, which is unparalleled to anything we have heard recently.
‘Escape the Mundane – Miss Efemby’ is the opening track and it stands the listener in good stead as to what is to come. We hear a thumping kick drum to begin with which feels like the heartbeat to the album and this is felt throughout the forthcoming tracks too. We adored the album as a whole but if we had to pick we would choose our favourites to be, ‘Fear of Flying’ for its flamenco style, ‘Money Time Life’ for its beautiful vocal battle between the male and female vocals. We also loved, ‘Directions’ for the layered building vocals and, ‘Missing It’ for the expertly played, atmospheric and melodic guitar work.
