Maher Zain learned a lot from Red One. But the music world that he wrestled there offers a lot of luxury makes him feel unhappy, even he felt something was wrong. In the end he found the answer of his doubts in music after he met and joined the Muslim Community in Stockholm. During that time he began to be active in the activities undertaken inside the mosque, and he felt that this was where a home meant to him.
And then he decided to return to Sweden and move into a singer and songwriter who is both Islamic and religious. The process is so long and the journey is what makes it as a singer breathe Islamic. A brave choice amidst overseas music industry competition is remarkable but the choice to plunge in Islamic music makes itself an idol among Young Generation especially in Muslim Countries.
In January 2009, Maher Zain teamed up with Islamic music company Awakening Records. And started making his first album project and finally on November 1, 2009, his first album was released under the name Thank You God. The album contains 13 songs with 2 additional songs. The album was re-released in a version of the percussion and the French language version of one of the songs.
Efforts Awakening Records and Maher Zain in promoting his first album is very successful by using social media Facebook, Youtube, and Itunes. In early 2010, the songs on the album became famous in the Middle East as well as Muslim youths in western countries.
In 2010, he became an artist who is often searched through Google in Malaysia. Indonesia and Malaysia are the two countries where Maher got success because the album won some platinum by Malaysian music company Warner Music Malaysia and Indonesian origin Sony Music Indonesia and Hits Records. In Malaysia, the album achieved the highest sales in 2010.
