RE: Dear Hive - please give me "Requests" for my Improvised Set tonight!

i scored mine when they were relatively cheap, i paid about $250. i just looked and they are going more for upper 300s on reverb.
i agree, the plugout options were cool, although i never bought a new one.

i would like to see that kind of thing more common in the future with hardware, as it's nice to get an upgrade option - even if you have to pay for it! that is one great thing about brands like elektron- they give you these amazing firmware updates over a decade later😎

i thought the synth made excellent "sparkly sounds" .....but the filter... wasnt necessarily as "fat" s i would have liked. another thing they should do more of,in my opinion, is an analog filter on a digital synth

Indeed re: updates. Unfortunately Roland didn't seem to develop do any more plugouts or develop them further after the initial set they made and instead moved everything new towards Roland Cloud (subscription based software synths).

If I was looking at a new hardware synth outside modular right now I would definitely look at Elektron - sounds like a great company,

lol cloud subscription🤢im not dowm with the subscription style model -not at all surprised. i love roland, classically, but they seem to make some weird decisions in recent years

Indeed - I'm not tempted by the cloud subscription either!

On the upside - the reason I have the SH-2 plugout/plugin is that when I needed some technical support with the software version of the 1M, the support engineer was super helpful and ended up 'conveniently' leaving me with an extra license for the SH-2 (though of course now I want a real SH-2!)

I do have a real SH101 btw - not in great condition and last time I tried it I couldn't get it to be in tune consistently - I may try it again soon.
