Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Hey I hope everyone has enjoyed a great weekend! My choice this week is a classic track from Humble Pie and it's a track that portrays the spirit, sense of fun and most importantly the incredible vocal range of Stevie Marriott, what a voice! What a man!! .. I hope you enjoy.

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

It’s been a while since I dropped a classical piece here and this is a beauty.....
American Beauty in fact, I love this piece when I feel like a bit of quiet reflection.

So relaxing...

Mate, after a long and arduous day this was just the relaxation I needed .. where is my scented rose petal bath when I need it! :D Beautiful choice of music my friend I had completely forgotten about this. It redefines the word chillout and for 03.08 minutes I was left floating on a cloud of ethereal wonder .. Thank you for sharing @tremendospercy

Rockin time!

Many know Deep Purple but I am not sure how many know Burn. In a southern rock band that did all originals, this is the song I suggested we cover when they asked.
Incessant drum fills and breaks, standard awesome Blackmore, great vocals.

Rock on Monday!

Great Pick Mr Pickleman! I had an uncle that raised me on this music .. alongside Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, the Bon Scott years AC/DC etc etc and so this is a very welcome blast from the past, I still have this album on vinyl somewhere?! Both Blackmore and Page are guitar Gods to me! Never heard of Burn .. did you say it was your band? Excellent choice my friend I've had this one blaring out at full volume, it's a good job I have no neighbours :D Thank you for the music @zekepickleman

Ah yes I always knew of Deep Purple but have rediscovered the deep tracks within the last 10 years or so.

One of the band I was in a few years ago wanted a cover for the set for the show most of this video was shot. I suggested Burn and we eventually went with 4 horsemen.

You can see Ol' Zeke in the credits at the end. Rhythm geetar.

Ah yes I confused myself there .. I see what you mean now, I thought you were saying there was a band called Burn that took their name from Deep Purples burn, sorry but it's been a long day! lol Great track here as well dude, you guys are seriously talented! Loving the attitude and vibe .. excellent stuff!

Love it!!

I like what I hear. Thanks for showing us this band.

Harry Belafonte - Jamaican Farewell

Thank you for this classic @palikari123 I haven't heard this in years! Reminds me of Antigua .. some friends used to work on a tourist boat during the day and at night we used to take the boat out, drink rum and watch the sun going down whilst listening to this on the cd player .. man I need a holiday! :D Thank you for the trip down memory lane my friend, I really enjoyed listening to this great track!!

I just had to come back and reply to this...Sounds like you had so much fun! I need to go for a holiday to Antigua myself lol.

Song - The Thoughts of Mary Jane
Artist - Nick Drake

Nick Drake's voice sounds so good alongside the flute and strings. An unusually happy and uplifting Nick Drake song (to me).

Hey @jimbobbill good to hear from you :) What a beautiful choice of music, I love Nick Drake .. maybe it's because we all know his story, but his voice has such a tender yet ethereal beauty it's difficult not to be moved. Whenever I hear a Nick Drake track it's as though I'm floating on a sea of dreams. Thank you for sharing my friend!

Wow! That's an amazing find. I've always liked Steve Marriot and the Small Faces, and I was really sad when he died – but I had no idea he could sing like this! I was aware that there was a band called Humble Pie when I was a child, but I didn't think they'd be very interesting!
Staying with the "blue-eyed soul" theme, I'm posting this lovely song, from the 1970s, by a Glasgow band called Cado Belle, who were kind of submerged as punk took off - but they were so good. I only discovered them about 20 years later, and I bought their album. I love Maggie Bell's beautiful clear vocals so much that I went to see her live a few years ago. It was a sold-out gig, and her vocals were just as amazing as they were back in the 70s.

Hey @natubat I'm glad you enjoyed my choice .. but you're right the words Humble Pie probably don't instill as much confidence as they should, especially as they were such a tight band .. and like you say what a voice! Like yourself I was really saddened by his death, he was in the middle of putting a new album together and was on top form .. so much to live for :(

I really enjoyed your choice as well, she has such a beautiful voice .. I love the bands that just keep going for the love of the music and the fans that follow them to the ends of the earth, it's so refreshing in comparison to the transient nature of modern music. I will have to look into these guys some more, thank you for sharing!

I think the band broke up a long time ago, but Maggie has released several solo albums, some of them with a Celtic rock-type theme.

Alright! At first I thought this was this song.......

Oh yeah - that's another goody! They don't make em like that any more :)

I havent heard this song for so long. Since my Dad would have the radio station on to listen to the races and songs like this would be played inbetween races. ha.

My Monday just got better. Here we go! One of the greatest Canadian bands of all time.

As always another inspired choice of music @sequentialvibe I haven't heard of these guys before, but that will now change because I thought they were great! Canada's best-kept secret eh? So which one would you rather be The Beatles or The Rolling Stones? ;) Thank you for the music my friend, I very much enjoyed listening to this one!

You are in for a serious treat! All of their releases are on my exclusive A list!

The Rolling Stones all the way without question!

Thanks for the intro and yes it would have to be the Stones! I watched Stoned again recently .. always been a fan of Brian Jones!

You just made me smile. I re-watched it recently too. I have always been fascinated by Jones in particular....a true maniac! I have read so many bios on them and yet I want more!

Hey @elizabethmurray I love this track! In fact, I was playing it in the car just a few days ago. I love its dreamlike quality and beautiful lyrics .. it's a true musical journey. I've listened to this song for years, about ten of them thinking it was Neil Young! :D Excellent stuff and another inspired choice of music!

I hope everyone has a great week, I got a good feeling about this one.

Anyway my pick for the week is John Maus- Bennington

This is one of my favorites.

Hey my friend, what a brilliant 80'sesque synth-laden masterstroke of musical merriment .. in short, I thought it was great!! :D Equally it's another classic from you! Thank you for the music @fadedhistory

Happy new week. I missed this post the past couple of weeks due to solar panel problems.

Great Humble Pie track. I had a coffee in my hand as I listened. Marriott has a daughter trying to be a rock star now. Seen her in a couple of magazines

Put me in the mood to show you all a friend of mine: Lloyd Spiegel from Melbourne. After years of quietly plugging away without pushing himself, he is starting to become more well known and touring overseas.

He mainly plays acoustic blues. Writes his own songs and is a shredder as you can here in this solo. Booming voice. This is my fave song of his. Hopefully you will enjoy.

hey @izzynoel hope you're well .. you've been missed but haven't you come back with a brilliant track! Your friend is a very talented man, I love his gravelly voice .. such restraint and yet such power, a tough balancing act!! Man, he certainly knows his way around a guitar as well! Awesome stuff.

Glad you enjoyed my choice .. I feel that track/performance really captures the essence of Marriott. I wasn't aware of his daughter so thank you for the heads up .. I will be sure to look into her music. Thanks again my friend.

Thanks @perceptualflows I am glad you like him. How can anyone not! He is huge in Belgium but one day will be huge everywhere I think.

Sorry my friend, I missed this last night and I've been working all day .. what a welcome home gift though :) Funnily enough, I was speaking to my friend Kaya today who is named after this album .. small world! Love this track and I love Marley, a true musical genius. Thank you for the music @hrissm

Wow that’s a cool way to get a name :)

My Partner has been flogging Marleys "Iron Lion Zion" and at first it annoyed me cause it is so catchy I got it in my head all day but now I appreciate him more for what he was saying in that song.

Sometimes I can’t tell if I like the words or the music better!

One of my favourites my pick for this week. "In A Gadda da Vida" By Iron Butterfly

Hey my friend .. what a great choice of music! I love this track, it's very different to a lot of the music of the time in that it carries a darker edge .. the first sign that the wave of 60s euphoria was about to break and retreat back into itself. Thank you for the music @boodles17 I really enjoyed this one!

Great song.

Happy Monday! It is so interesting to see such diversity in the music selection in the comments. Guess everyone has their own unique taste when it comes to music. We have had the pleasure of releasing two more songs from our album this week. The first link, Welcome to Beaverbill, is a rock orchestra piece, and the second link, Heroes Rise, is a chamber orchestra style piece. Enjoy!

Welcome to Beaverbill

Heroes Rise

Feel free to check out our Steemit page to read more about our music compositions. :)

Hey @saturnme yes there is certainly a diverse choice of music on display here .. you never know what you're going to get next! Thanks for sharing this .. you guys have been hard at work! I will be sure to check out your page. Hope the album goes really well and thank you for sharing your music!

Hey my friend .. it might not surprise you to know I've ever heard this before and I can't pronounce the name :) But I really enjoyed it! Great vibe and the video was pretty cool as well! Thank you for the music @rosgard

Love the video and I am not even a cat person. Happy ending too.

I picked up this tune whilst living in Thailand, and even sang it in bars to amuse the Thai girls, a bit of reggae, Thai style, now I feel certain you have not heard this before.
Enjoy my friend.

Man I enjoyed this one .. very chilled .. nice! Although I'm now really curious to hear your personal version .. D Tube is calling ;) lol Never heard this and I've never heard Thai reggae before .. didn't even know it existed! A whole musical genre that's remained elusive. Excellent stuff and perfect for those Thai beach days. Thank you for sharing @deliberator

Keeping it real and keeping life interesting, tis all it is about bro, have a superb week my friend.

Oh and that dtube never works for me, tried it many times, it always fails, oh well, maybe one day.

Hey thank you for the music @alternativamira haven't heard this before and I thought it was a cool analogy of our times .. great video as well! Thank you for sharing with us!

My pick of this week is something a bit different but quite relevant with all of the war mongering that’s going in around the world.

This is a great local Boston artist that speaks out against the hypocrisy of the world governments and their evil ways. Kind of like the rap version of rage against the machine.

Hey this is great @cmplxty .. underground style, I like it! .. great message and intelligently written, a brilliant combination. Do you ever listen to Immortal Technique? .. he's pretty awake as well. Hip-hop is such a powerful weapon of truth when it's used in the right way. Thank you for the music my friend.

I certainly have, I have a bunch of his songs on my iPod (showing my age a bit here, still use mine!) he is a more well known version of Lif. I like Lif’s beats much more though so I tend to listen to him instead.

Glad you liked it!

hopefully this song entertains our activities all and replace fatigue.

you need some singing lessons.lol.oh my head i think ill go now.

Hhaahhahaah...that not me

oh well you must be relieved

Ha I thought that was you for a minute .. she's great but not quite up with Stevie ;)

Ha you can't beat a bit of Shaft @elizabethmurray .. redefines the word cool! Thank you for the music!

waw ... you have cheered me up at this moment .. hahah
give me link download this song ..
thanks @perceptualflaws

Thank you .. I'm glad you enjoyed my choice .. I don't know where you'd download it but it's Black Coffee by Humble Pie.

Wanderful music . I enjoyed your music video.

Hello @perceptualflwas. It's long time not to join with your Music Monday. Today I'd like to participate again, and here is my track.

More Than a Feeling by Boston.

I love this old band. And one song that most impressed me is More Than A Feeling. Actually, this is my brother's favorite song. I heard it in the years when he was still with me, until in 2008 he died. Every time I remember him I always play this song. Like today for example, and when it comes to this lyrics, "So many people have come and gone. Their faces fade as the years go by. Yet I still recall as I wander on. As clear as the sun in the summer sky," I just want to cry. Cheers.

Here is a long list from me. Enjoy yourselves!
