Because I understand that not everyone has the same beliefs and values as me. Because of this understanding I choose to speak to a person in a way that maintains respect for them as a person, so I can have a better chance of helping them to understand a broader perspective.
Being rude on the internet doesn't add any value. In fact quite the opposite.
