You can use block trades to do so. Go to your steemit account. On your image icon, click and select wallet. Now go to your SBD and click buy. It will load the blocktrades. page. Two boxes will appear, one for send and the other for receive. On the send box, select SBD and on the receive box select steem. The transact will be done automatically and you will find in your wallet that your sbd has reduced being exchanged for Steem.
