Actually what I do when buying rice is pick a grain and cut it into two with my teeth and hopes it makes a sound. Plastic rice isn't easy to cut into two because it is plastic and again perhaps you bought it already without knowing, once on water the rice floats and not sink like the normal rice. It also cooks longer.
