I got an allergy screening and came away with a long list of allergies,: cat dander, various tree pollens, some grasses, and dust mites. So what I thought were just seasonal allergies included some year-round allergies as well.

I use a combination of strategies:

  • Daily use of Claritin and a nasal spray for general symptom reduction
  • Covers for my pillows and mattress to combat dust mites
  • Allergy shots for several years to try to acclimate my immune system
  • Avoid cats; I can visit them but not for long, and I don't sleep in a house that has them.
  • Avoid pollens: we use the air conditioning year-round, though I still go outside to walk the dog or garden.
  • Long-term asthma control med, and rescue inhaler, to avoid or treat allergy-triggered asthma attacks

I have pale or white skin. For me, it's dangerous to be at the sun. I wear trousers and smt with long sleeves + a cap.
