The Answer to your question lies in History..America was discovered in 1492 from their on it functioned as a British Colony. It declared its Independence in 1776..That is in less than 300 Years. So in my opinion, if we do ever manage to colonise Mars and it becomes fully independent it will declare its independence in less than 100 Years..

A rocket from or to mars is traveling for 9 months so plenty of time to shoot it out of the sky. But I think we will never colonize mars if we don't fix the anti-gravity over there. Last time I heard that ISS visitors decrease around 1% bone density per few days so to live there will be devestating for humans. We need a hybrid race or a big evolution first. Hopefully our war-thoughts evovle out of our systems with us

We should probably ask Elon Musk, or Richard Branson. They are probably the ones pushing that envelope the hardest. The real question is when we get there who is going to own it..... That will determine how long it takes to start the war.....
